I know theres a bunch of threads on this already but this weeks transaction was the last for me. Been a bunch of issues previously Ive overlooked. Sent a rope back to be spliced that apparently didn't get ordered spliced.....I sent the rope to the address they asked me to, put a note inside asking to splice with all my info should they need anything. 3 weeks later, nothing. I email, two days later a reply that they know nothing about it. a few emails later it magically appears. Then I get an email that they need payment before they can splice it. Try calling for 4 hours, leave a message and nothing. Send an email, two days later nothing. Send another (very frustrated at this point) email and finally get a pay pal request for the whopping $26- to splice and ship the rope. Seriously? May not be the biggest customer but Im good for at least $15-20k a year. No thanks, Im out!!!!

YUP! Something is up and its not the same place it used to be. I and the same issue with some chainsaw pants. I never received them in the order. Called and no one knew anything about it. Said they were shipped. I had to eat that. 300 is a lot of money to me.
3 years ago I ordered a new helmet with sena. It never showed up. I called and that same day they shipped me another helmet. Said that they would figure out what happened with the shipping and they would eat it if they had to. What has changed?
-When your about to get robbed, what does the robber say? "Trust me I am not going to rob you"
-When your going to get cheated on a deal, what do they say? "Trust me, I would never cheat you"
-Ever watch that scary movie? Oh you can trust me....I'n not going to kill you...as he pulls the knife out and slits your throat.
-"TREESTUFF" Guys don't worry...nothing is going to change with the addition of Sherrill Tree! interesting isn't it?

It's funny, my guys said the same thing today "a year ago they would have spliced and shipped that rope because they knew the money we would continue to spend would supersede the cost in no time". Hopefully another great company will use this chance to emerge and take advantage of the opportunity!

Yes, here is the time for shelter tree to step up. I too spend about 15 to 20K a year at treestuff.

Treestuff used to be the way for arbos to get their gear at good prices and even get"freebies" thrown in. It always felt like I was "stickin it to the man" when I didn't have to order from the big dogs. I was very disappointed when I heard of the sherrill transition. I knew things would start to go south when it was no longer run by those of us who have 50 to 1 in their blood. I could go on and on with the issues that we have experienced over the last few months.
Maybe this is an opportunity for a new gear supplier to start up that will have the right heart and love for us Arbos?

I wish Nick could turn the tide, but I believe this was to be from the beginning, when Sherrill got involved, from Sherrill's POV.

If you can't Beat Them, Buy Them, & Shut Them Down.

A Very Old Strategy, Proven Effective, yet again.

Exactly

I’ve had several unexplained issues as well since the takeover. Are we slowly being directed from TS to ST through clever downgrading of services? Or is it just turnover and disruption of the core group? I would think the later more reasonable.

A little of both, whether intentional or not.I saw all of this coming as soon as I heard of the changes, I'm not surprised at all but I am a little disappointed :(

My last transaction was a mess at Sherrill. The super short story ... stuff never shipped ... didn't keep promises ... finally sent dirty used PPE ... tried to charge me for their mistakes. It was enough nonsense that I'm done. When I figured out that TS was owned by ST, I just assumed that the same problems would eventually beget TS. I've seen it before. A merger/acquisition with big promises only to have it come out exactly as expected. My observation was that the ST problems were bad enough that they must be inherent in the business systems and practices, and not just an employee problem. TS can't escape the same fate unless they are sequestered, and I don't think they are. Sometimes the only way to speak is with your feet. Just walk away.

For what it's worth my recent experiences with TS have been fairly positive. Among plenty of on-time shipments, TS recently missplaced a box of chipper knives I had sent in to be sharpened. I wasn't happy that it was delayed and had to buy a costly new set of knives, but Eric got the new knives out very quickly and eventually found the old knives and gave what amounted to a $160 discount on the sharpening. I've also had a failing powerscender that Eric offered to repair/replace. So I just sent it in with two others that had failed in the same way. I recently also got very good deal from them on discounted 200' hanks of Yale sumac. The Notch products seem pretty good.

I visited TS in the spring for a weekend conference and was impressed with everyone there. All their in-store purchasing discounts and coupons left me feeling that they had let me take advantage of them.

You can always call me if you have an issue. My phone number is 440.989.0444

We do the best we can every day, employees come and go and things get messed up. I will make sure you get taken care of if you have any issues.

A lot of the people commenting on this thread email me directly and call me at night. I'm not positive you can get that service anywhere else.

There isn't an excuse for bad service, but we are bound to mess up sometimes. You just gotta give us the opportunity to make it right.

Beside at the end of the day we have the biggest assortment, the most stock, the best prices and the fastest shipping. That's all facts, Jack.

Sounds like a fair response to try.
