Don't knock the yellow poly, I have been splicing eyes into that for as sailplane tow ropes for years. It's all about the application.It's only a problem if you are at a friend's house and you put an eye in some yellow poly that they have laying around.

Oregon would be a great place for a workshop
ARLO....I agree Limbwalker. If Mark wanted to do one in Corvallis I would volunteer my heated 20x30' shop as a possible location. It is already set up for splicing, with 2 cleats and 2 dead-eyes for doing burys and a 4x8' splicing bench, etc. I regularly use it for teaching splicing to OSU students and would be happy to let Mark take over the space for a workshop. I would love it because I am sure I would learn all kinds of new tricks.
