We have had our machine for about a month now, and it has 45 hrs. on the meter. So thought I would give all my friends at Treebuzz a little info about whats to like and whats not to like about the machine.
1st of all, it is a complete redesign of the earlier models. It is red and black and has the Toro sticker, but that is where the comparisons end. I am replacing a Toro TX525, so all comparisons will be to that machine.
Ride comfort - with the new triangle track design, and larger road wheels, the drive system is much smoother. The track adjustment is the same, but it is easier to see if it is adjusted right.
The electronic T handle is a one-handed drive, and forward and reverse speeds are the same at 4.7 mph. They did limit the flow when turning, so full speed is only while going straight. Somehow you can go faster with lower RPMs, not sure how that works.
The aux. hydraulic lever is now in the middle of the instrument panel, and is much shorter. We noticed right away that it was not intuitive. To open the grapple you have to pull back toward you. So we switched the hoses on our grapple so it made sense.
11.5 gal. fuel capacity, with 2 tanks to fill. There is not an option to switch tanks.
The platform is tilted forward, and rests against large rubber bumpers, which helps out with ride comfort. Machine also has 6" of ground clearance.
Maintenance access is much better, which will make it easier to work on.
The parking brake has been moved off the instrument panel to down by your feet.
I love the vertical lift. It keeps the load close to the machine as you raise it, which is a big deal when loading large loads onto a trailer.
Loader has more reach, has been redesigned for better view to attachment, and the cylinder that tilts the attachment is larger. Thicker steel was also used for the loader structure.
Overall very happy with machine. I feel it is the step in between a traditional mini, and a track skid loader. Machine is very smooth and stable. Have no complaints with the 25 horse engine, the benefits being no emission requirements. The hydraulic pump is upsized to 15 gal per min.
Beings this is a redesign, there are some issues to work out. Here are the ones we have had -
Defective hydraulic hose - blew at 10 hrs. Covered by warrantee.
Hydraulic hose connections on pump not properly tightened - 2 separate fittings worked loose, made a mess.
Front cover was not designed correctly - rattles against hydraulic pump. Toro told me to grind it back, which we did. We also added washers onto the bolts that hold the cover on.
Hydraulic oil runs out of breather - breather on hydraulic tank is mounted right on top of tank, which is on the bottom of machine. Not an issue on level ground, but that's not the case for most of us. Toro has come out with a kit that raises it about 15 inches. Installed kit yesterday, I think it will work much better.
Electronic sensor on park brake - When park brake is on, it renders the drive system inoperable. Once again, not an issue on flat ground. But if you park on a hill, you need to reverse the drive wheels to release the pin. We ended up breaking a park brake cable, which was covered under warrantee. Toro is working on putting a 5 second delay on the drive system, so that wouldn't be an issue. We moved our sensor out of the way so it wont ever come on. The only reason for it is so you have an indicator light on the dash when it is on.
Here are some pics - note the comparisons
