Using tablets while making estimates

Location

Curious how many of yall use tablets to write up and email the bid while at the estimate? I have been writing the info, then going home and typing it up. Sometimes i dont get done with estimates till dark then i still have to go home and type them.

I do it. It's tedious typing on an iPad into Jobber. Get yourself a Bluetooth keyboard and you'll love life so much more.

We've noticed a higher rate of bid approval on quotes that are received moments after the consult.

Great question, thanks for posting it.

I use quickbooks online, so I can type up, and print to a mobile bluetooth printer, via my phone or tablet.

Most times I just use my phone. It is easier to hold and type while looking at the trees with the customer. It is very nice to be able to hand them a printed estimate before leaving.

That sounds like a really slick setup of hardware and software. Working off of your freaking phone, for gosh sakes! It doesn't get more mobile than that. Really cool, thanks for posting!

I use arborgold on an iPad. Not only do I email the client their estimate right away, but our office gets the info right away as well. I can also get estimates on the fly. If I'm in the neighbourhood when the message pops up I get the estimate done right away. Saves a ton of travel time in the long run.

Peter,
Our business (virtual answering/admin service) also works exclusively on Arborgold, we answer phones, input all customer records and route estimates. We can also receive payments, update AR in Arborgold as well as schedule accepted work. We find that the "immediate" proposal sets our clients apart from their competitors in every region we serve. Also having an "office" presence to answer phones, field and respond to questions, and respond to emails is crucial to long term growth. For those who don't have a support team, Arborgold also offers an automation email service that will send reminders to your customers if they have not responded to your proposal. If you have Arborgold's "Ultimate" service plan, you will have thier "Dynamic Proposal" which gives the customer the ability to sign and accept the proposal right there in the field. Your office then gets an email copy of this acceptance to easily begin the scheduling process. It's a really great option for any size business!

There is lot of room for improvement in my system but so far it's worked well,
I use a estimate form that I hand write the work description, customer contact info, ect into. I just snap a picture with my phone and the customer keeps the paper copy and I keep the digital copy. It's worked well enough so far.

I do use a tablet and the app skitch to show customers what will be done on pruning jobs, or to verify specific limbs that they may want removed.

Hey guys. I use 'invoice to go' for around $100 au a year you get unlimited clients, estimates and invoices. I've found it really easy to use and it keeps track of everything. You can email clients immediately which I really like and there are easy to generate reports that tell you where your at. Cheers.

What printer are you using? I haven't found a good mobile printer.

I use the "Printer Share" app to print from phone/tablet. It can print via Wi-Fi, bluetooth, or Google cloud (make the estimate print back at the office while in the field).

I bought the canon pixma ip110 a few months ago but have had a hard time setting it up.
I think that is why I use printer share...it automatically downloads the drivers for the printer (the first time you connect to it). I don't have to mess with any phone settings etc. Once I type up the estimate in QBO, I select preview (preview in printer share then directly print or if it opens in Adobe PDF I just share it to printer share)

I'll try that out! Thanks.

I use skitch ( thanks Guy) and invoice 2 go ( thanks 0ceans). Love them both for how each is described above in this thread. Good shit.
