Weather?

notahacker, A guy worked with us couple years back. Thomas Wiess a tree specialist from Switzerland, hell of a good arborist. he told me once he was pruning at a zoo once over the monkeys. He said the monkeys were going nutz picking up branchs threating and throwing them back at him. They were pissed / jealous? What a visual .. . wish he had photos. Patrick you out there? do you know if Thomas gets on the Buzz?

I was at Augusta National yesterday it was beautiful outside 60 F + . Bradford pears, plums. cherries, and star magnolias all in flower. With the good comes the bad insect populations. B.T Beetle and aphids are out in large populations

Greetings from the Center of the North American Continent, Minneapolis, Minnesota -- 5 degrees and ~2" of snow -- Welcome to the Buzz Stefano!!!

Last week was the first time all winter when I didn't break a sweat with full PPE, including those nice Smurf gloves. I did have the heavy (Northerners read: standard weight) AW pants on.

This weekend was the second time my heat has come on (64F) in the apartment. I think that has to do with passive radiation from my neighbors. If I were using an Intel computer, it probably wouldn't have come on at all!

On topic:
I had to slow down some when I noticed that my boots were blowing away a little more bark on Red Oaks, like spring tenderness, when we finally got about an inch of rain earlier this month. We have been in an otherwise drought (behind some 18"). The American elms are flowering, a few purple leaf plums are in bloom. Fine crop of mistletoe this winter.

February in Virginia Beach is the start of Crepe Murder Season. A warm week end in the winter brings the handy homeowner outside to perform his yearly ritual. /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

This is what they look like the next year, they have a flush of new growth but just like topping, the trees become weekened and hidious. VT has an extension publication in the works now to address the probelm not sure when it will come out but I will let you know. Southern Living Magazine had an article a few years ago about it. Unfortuality the trees do not die right away so people think it is not hurting them.
