Zk-2 rope wrench short video about setup

Thanks Derrick. Makes a lot of sence. Seems to me the stiff teather with single carabiner is the best option for a device above the life support hitch.

Very nice explanation Derrick. I really like the way that stiff teather pushes the wrench up, but I dont think Im willing to give up my hitch climber, due to advancement reasons. What do you think about shortening the teather the length of a biner and "splinting" the teather and biner together?

that middle hole in the hitch climber is priceless to me because I connect my voltige chest harness to it for ascent. Everything you said in the video though made a lot of sense. Derrick do you advance your system by attaching a chest harness or lanyard to the wrench? I have tried that but there was way more slop in ascent.
Either way I have the new wrench and tether coming and I already have a pinto pulley so I'll see if I can accomodate all these issues.
Thanks for the video.

Sounds like the wrench would benefit from a pulley designed with specific features for it. Wonder if this has come up with Kevin and the guys at ISC.

Was thinking the same exact thing. Something similar to the mickey mouse pulley but the top hole would be a horizontal beam of some sort so that the solid tether could be attached to that.

My current setup I have a short non-solid tether that is girth hitched to the top hole of the hitch climber.

Then tried the solid tether but didn't have the right pulley to make it as effective as it should be.

I am going to add a small shackle that will go in the top splice. This will allow me to put a keychain biner to tend. As well as a biner when frog walking.

Derrick - Any concerns about the way the HMS biner is loaded, since it looks fairly crowded along the top "bar" of the biner, maybe placing some of the load too far away from the main spine?

Not questioning your setup, as I'm sure you've thought this through already. And I really like that you've trimmed down all extra hardware. Just want to know your thought process...Thanks!!

Go to youtube type in rope wrench. Then look for derrick's video's they are under countryboypa31. This will be his latest video. Had to do that to see it. Hope this helps.

@ opposablethumb how about to reduce clutter on the top bar of the hms carabiner you tie one leg of the hitch to the becket of the pinto pulley.

@countryboy. nice video, I like the idea of a shackel to tend slack as well

Normally i use a Petzl William D biner. This was what i had at home. I would be a little worried of how tight the set up is on this biner. If using this biner everyday i would do what cbugg said.

Let me first say thanks to Derrick for your info, your ideas made me look into a better setup for my current Wrench. And also I think your plexiglass tether is awesome. Here is the tether setup I have been using with the Wrench for the last couple weeks that Im super pumped about. The tether is made out of a 10" sterling rope sling.I like a small hitch so this length worked perfect for me.I used a small piece of aluminum that I cut the width of the sling and put into the middle to provide the stiffness.I then wrapped electrical tape around the entire length of the sling except for the eye that connects to the wrench and the eye that goes through the carabiner. This works great with an el cheepo cmi micro pulley as the tether fits in between the running end of the rope and inside the micro pulley.I also have a small piece of zing it tied to the tether hole that the biner attaches to to use for advancement. Also a pic of my frog walking gear.I would ideally like to use a Kong futura instead of the Petzl but dont have one.Sorry ahead of time for the amount of pics.

If you place a sling over the middle hole before putting the biner thru the HC can be used with little slop
