Yard signs

Hey guys, this spring I'm getting some high quality yard signs made to showcase my work (with permission of course) and I'm thinking of securing them with an earth anchor of some sort so i don't have any "run away" on me.
Any of you buzzers dealt with this?

Only real experience I have with yard signs is when a relative ran for judge. Relatively thin cardboard type, with the wire U hoop. Is that the type of sign you're talking about? We were faced with the fun of putting the signs in in the middle of winter, frozen ground is not easily penetrated by those wires. We resorted to driving and removing a 10" nail, putting the sign in, then pouring water in the holes so the sign would freeze in. Dunno if I'd do anything special to secure that type, security might cost as much as the sign. Now if you're talking more along the lines of a real estate sign, you should see if the mfg already has an anti-theft option. One of the local real estate companies has a nice setup. They drive a screw type post base a little bit below ground level and the post locks in somehow. They use a socket driver on an impact gun, pretty sure it's a camming action, like on an in-ground pool ladder fitting like this.

I'd go for the cheaper perforated signs. I get them for less than $4 with stakes. 2 sided 2 color. Go for quantity not quality on the signs. Put them in every yard. My 2 cents.

They will walk no matter what you do. Competition teenage drivers and people who just don't like signs. Go with quantity over quality and cut your losses.

I hearya. The problem is that I've had all my crappy signs stolen years ago and the reason is that I can't adequately secure them. With a heavy metal one I can chain and lock it to a spiral earth anchor of some sort. My question is about what I can use for an anchor n

Maybe talk to one of the sign co's that install and pick up RE signs. They may have some ideas. We use the inexpensive signs. Loose some but we get quite a few of them back.

I'm thinking about using the cheap ones this spring. Anyone have any idea of their actual efficacy? I'm also thinking Im going to include a (very short) survey with invoices for a bit. Try to figure out where my business is really coming from.

A start up company in my area used them last year and basically blanketed the area. They got some work from it id say.

No hard numbers but we use them and find them effective. Wyo, a checklist of the different sources for leads you use, i.e., lawn signs, websearch/website, truck sign, neighbor, family/friend, yellow pages, print ad, etc... When they call in or your first time speaking with them, ask where they heard of your company.
This way you're not relying on them to fill out the form.

It is time of yr for me as to when to use signs. We have a very large tourist season here. The renters don't own and do not spend on trees. The owners are here Easter Mother's Day and subsequent holidays throughout the summer and fall. A few well placed signs then has generated more work than newspaper advertising.
