Wtb: chipper

Looking for a chipper to step up from our chuck and duck. Would like a drum machine like a vermeer bc1000, bandit 1290 or similar

I wish I could afford one of those new 730 but it is just out of reach price wise at the moment. My credit is lousy, making it hard to try to get any financing.

I have run disk chippers before and they don't seem to do very well with palms.

I cannot comment on the Palm issue, but I can say that this was a special order chipper with three sets of knives as opposed to two. It makes excellent chips in comparison to most models, including my new 255. Research that a little. Good luck either way.

I have a '97 version of this same chipper, but not the special order knife set. Mine has 2 sets of 2 blades, but man I love it. Not a diesel, only a gasser but very easy to work on and just wont quit. As far as the paint goes, I'm probably on my 3rd paint job right now. :)

What chipper does a good job at chipping palm? Not trying to be a smarta$$ but I really want to know. I've used most of the brands, both options (disk and drum), and palm "chips" have always killed the ability to give away nice mulch.

I cant think of a better 1st chipper. Certainly get with CreTree and give it a good "once over", and fix any issues, but I would personally love to have another one in my fleet. Mine is not for sale BTW :) Feel free to PM me with any questions. I have no idea what options he has on his, or what condition it's in, but even without any extras it's a great chipper.

RE: "usually keep hardwood larger than 6" - That thing will eat up 6" material all day long without flinching.

Brush Bandit built a Model 95 specifically for palms and other fibrous material. Same as a Model 90, but the disk was set at 90° to the direction of feed instead of 45° like on the Model 90. Of course, living north of the Mason-Dixon line, I've never had a palm, much less one that needed chipping.

If you're handy, we've got a 12" Woodchuck disk chipper with a blown engine, sitting in New Haven, CT. Rydemore Trucks in Fitchburg, MA usually has complete replacement diesel engines for only a few $K, but the boss just wants to unload it as is.

Unfortunatly, all I am is handy... but was sort of looking for a turn key machine...But what do you think he would have to get for it?
Thanks

I rented a nine inch terwx with the 90 degree disk one day when my chipper gave me shit ..this is what happened when a piece of 9 inch white oak hit the disk..the chipper had less than ten hours on it.I hope they handle palms much better hahaa.. Maybe I should post this in torque your knives thread..

Ooooo....i bet that made a heck of a racket. Good thing is, you probably had chainlink fence top rails laying around back at the yard. You know, from the last fence you had to repair. Ha ha :bailando:
