What do you guys think?

I think the dude in the end saying he's not an arborist needs a kick in the nuts.

Yea that's what bothered me the most.

I would be tempted to say something but your never going to win with people like that. I bet their boss gave them instruction to NOT talk to anyone while working on that tree. I wonder if they would want the tree to stay if it was hazardous? Are you willing to sacrifice a human like for this tree?

It seems to me that more communication was needed between the building owner, the community, and the tree service company. If the tree truly was high risk, and mitigation through pruning was not an option, this could have been explained in detail to the community by a qualified arborist.

Perhaps that was the case. The commentary does not offer any further detail.

I was in similar situation many years ago. My response to the residents was: "I'm just doing my job!" In retrospect, the whole operation was a cluster ---- before I ever showed up. No communication between parties and I was just the contract climber. However, I could (should) have walked away from my particular situation.

My experience... for what it's worth.

I laughed so hard during the Belinda tree song. It was hilarious

bit dis-heartening to see that coming from a professional. its no better that the guy ripping on the arbo.

removing trees is an unfortunate event that is necessary in an urban environment.

I agree serious lack of planning and communication with the community. i'd definitely stay in bed for that one.

I got some seroius opposition removing a silver maple that had crushed their sewage pipes causing $25000 to the home owner's basement in addition to the price to remove the tree. The home owners were in tears to see this mature tree go, but their insurance, nor the tree, didnt give them an option. When dealing with some people in the urban environment, there is no educating them. Some people are to one sided about things. Just smile and wave, pretend you are stupid and get on with your day.

That property looks like a rental situation. The owner probably doesn't live in the neighborhood so he probably doesn't care about the value the tree adds to it. I see this as a good example of the need for TPO's. Somervile needs all the trees they can get, or save.

Here...Bob Vila...cuts a face, then makes an angled back cut...and the tree falls 90 degrees from the face...but he doesn't get hurt or wreck anything...so he did it 'right'...huh?!
