ive been creeping on here for 3-4 years, reading threads and researching archives for info and enjoying some of the lessons others have learned. im a commercial fisherman by trade and have been learning tree work during my off time over the last 4-5 yrs. love it. its hard work, outside, and makes my dirt star pucker from time to time. i want to learn more. i want to be legit. i need insurance.
id like to come work with many of you and learn better practices
im in arcata ca and can travel a bit to learn and work.
im 35

Welcome Felix. Glad you are aboard. Best advice I can give iss ask questions, don't get pissed at the jerks that go off half cocked sometimes and try to get in contact with some local guys that are on here and see if you can spend some time with them.

Just noticed your avatar. When I was in college in the early '70's, the first major snow storm produced about 10-12" of good wet packing snow and a bunch of students from one of the dorm complexes made a snow sculpture that was about 10' high exactly like your pic. It was perfect, right down to the folds of his pants thatwere around his ankles and the sheets of the newspaper.:p

thanks for the welcome. i will try and ask good questions and continue to learn from all the on going discussions. yeah bixler isn't that far away, maybe 4-5 hrs. also wouldn't mind watchin cafferky up in portlandia. reg seems like a good guy, albeit farther than i normally go. i want to work around some guys who can set a pace that is high end production, safety conscious, and don't have egos to big to teach without screaming confusing indescript orders.

theres a barn on 101 north of willits ca with a big "dont forget the magic" sign on the north side, across the highway is a field with mowed grass, this toilet, and a sign letting you know your dog is not welcome to fertilize. i decided to have a couchsurfer friend snap and the only reading material was this sherrill tree catalog. well the guy in the barn sees me and start wailing on his old truckers air horn and wave frantically at me to cross the highway and talk to him. sheepishly i walk over ready to explain myself but realize hes not mad at all and just wanted us to hang out and have a beer, he was really cool and if i remember right a retired millwright. his son was the ceo of baileys, dont know if he noticed the sherrill catalogue
