weaver Saddles?

hey folks, I'm a newbie to the arborist field, I opened a tree/landscaping business last season and we are getting busy.
I am going to take training to get certified as a climber, and seeing how I'm the only one on my crew of 3 that is not afraid to climb seems right that I do the high stuff.
I have ordered some of the gear I'll need to take the course.
That along with new ladders, ropes, hardware, new saws etc..
I have a 4 dee Weaver coming but I think it might be sized wrong. I read on here that they are sized a bit different. According to the weaver site I should wear a large, but my waist is not as big as a 40-45" like the large chart says..
I have big thighs/butt from years of powerlifting, should I try the meduim? or will a large cinch down tight enough for my 36-37" waist? I'll be here lots , and I'm an Ontario resident, great site here.
thanks,
Cary aka "BigDog"

To add to the above post...I decided to take the training for 3 reasons
1) to expand my business potential

2) everybody here and their dog has boom trucks, but none of them are climbers.

3) It is time that our area had a certified arborist trying to restore and if needed ;to safely remove trees. Up here it is the butcher/hack and drop. I hate to see that crap.

I've got a Weaver sliding dee in medium and I can end up on the innermost buckle hole with my 32" waist. It verges on being too large sometimes, depending on what all I'm wearing. Sounds like you'll be okay because I tried on a large and it wasn't but maybe one or two (at the most) holes larger around at the small end of adjustment.

What part of Ontario are you from? I'm in Toronto and we have some excellent climbers working for great companies. Yeah some hacks but only the big co's have boom trucks.

I have a weaver sliding double dee, and its a medium. I am 32" waist and i am on the second to last belt hole most times. maybe you need a better fitted saddle?

Treehumper,
I'm in Brockville, about 40 min east of Kingston. We have 3 major tree bizz's here, all have big booms and none have climbers. I have also worked for the last 3 years running a cutting crew for the Leeds&Grenville stewardship council. We mostly did PW thinning and PR thinning.Last fall and winter we did a major Cedar cut for lumber, hardwork.
Mark, I appreciate your advice and I'm a training type of guy! I will do everything to get better and stay safe; hell during the bow season my buddies laugh 'cause I actually USE my 4 point harness while 18' up in a stand! LOL

thanks for the advice guys, looks like the Saddle should fit me.

Ha! Maybe more maximal glutes?

I believe you're going to be swimming in the large Weaver. If you didn't get the saddle with the thick back pad you can buy a pad from any of the major suppliers for around $30 that will take some of the slack.

Ah, a buddy of mine is in Kingston and is working with a company that still does pruning jobs wearing spurs!! Maybe you could move into the T.O. area? Great to have you on board! Good luck with the saddle. I'm checking out saddles for myself. Got to narrow it down though...

Butch,

I see you are a weaver fan, Nice saddle.

how often do you replace yours? BTW, nice site. You got my wife scared sh$%less! LOL...BD

The bridge would wear out in a couple of years, for me. But since Burnham advised me to cut off the stock dee and replace it with a beaner/roller combo, I think I'm gonna get an infinite amount of use from it.
