Sony Vegas 10.0.

Loving it.

Negatives are cost kinda high maybe and sooooo much to it. I might only know 40% of the stuff still.

Positives are, you can do just about anything you can imagine. Tutorials on the 10.0, old version i had didn't have it.

I have part 1 video, just completed; of a two part video on rope rigging.

Variety of cameras used.

I will be putting on youtube soon and you can see what you think.

I'm pretty sure Digital Performer from MOTU (Mark Of The Unicorn) works with video. I use it for audio, and it's quite straight forward. I recall a friend of mine, who graduated from Berkley College of Music with a film scoring and production degree, saying that Digital Performer is his choice.

Mark,

I've been using adobe Premier Elements though I did find the one below and played with it for a weekend. I liked some of the features but didn't have enough time to develop enough skill with it to give it a real fair shot. That said, I am inclined to download it and give it a serious run for the money in the next month or so.

Power Director

One feature I found outstanding was the ability to lock onto a subject in the screen, crop to it, and keep it centered in the screen. I used it on a whalewatching video I took.

The raw footage showed a black dot bouncing around along with the horizon as me and the boat bobbed around in the waves.

The lock and crop feature steadied the pic and effectively zoomed in so we could see that the dot was actually whale tails dancing high over the surface of the water.

for $49 it is probably worth just buying it. It is a site bit cheaper then adobe or sony.

That said, Sony Vegas is perhaps the best one out there bar none.

Oh, just thought of something Mark!

You can download a demo of sony vegas on the internet.

Sony will let you use it for about a month or so free, then you will have to buy it if you want to continue.

but whatever film you edit and render with it during that time is yours to keep.

I did the demo, then bought it early 2011.

Mark, I finally finished a video for youtube. It's in the buzzbuster video area.

It was editted with this vegas 10.0.

multiple types of cameras, from my canon powershot sx10IS to go pro hero cameras.

I tried to make video good for 480 resolution.
