Vermeer 30TX

Hi,
My husband was using the Vermeer 30TX stumpgrinder and all of a sudden it was out of control, going crazy. It had him almost pinned against the garage of the job site. He couldn't do anything but turn it off. Anyone have had experience with this? Vermeer couldn't answer. Thanks, April

Sounds like the valve stuck on the drive system, possibly. Looks like it has a good, fast ground-speed.

More details on "out of control, going crazy" would help to diagnose it.

@ShawnMont; Welcome to the TreeBuzz forum! I think you are going to like it here! Congratulations on making your first post! It is an interesting one, sorry it had to be about such a scary circumstance!

I'm not a pro, like the expert who responded above, @southsoundtree. I just wanted to welcome you to the forum, and encourage you to ask your husband to join up, too, if he's feeling up to it. I hope he was not too badly injured in this incident.

@Lumberjack is a forum member who owns and sells a lot of big, expensive equipment, and knows a lot about the mechanics of these items. Perhaps he can chime in, and be of some assistance. His real name is Carl Rutherford, and from all I've read, is a great person to do business with.

Welcome, again, and stay well.

Tim

P.S. Using the "@" symbol in front of a forum member's user name will generate a notification in their "in box" that they have been "mentioned" in a post, and make it more likely that they will return to the thread to answer additional questions, or add commentary.

Hard to have any kind of clue about the machine based on the descriptions provided. Maybe the crazy horse ate some wild oats.

@Lumberjack; Thanks for chiming in with an opinion. Are there any questions that you might have for @ShawnMont that would help you to try to figure out what might have occurred? Sorry if this seems like I'm being a nag (Ha! An inadvertent horse joke!), I'm just trying to help a new forum member find an answer to a puzzling situation. Thanks.

Tim

You've put more effort in this thread than the OP... I'm only posting since you tagged me and appreciate the kind words.

It should be a simple system, I have a hard time believing Vermeer couldn't figure it out, unless they were given detailed information similar to this thread.

Thanks, Carl. You are correct in your assessment of the situation, and I thank you for your time and attention. She's been hanging around the forum, but not speaking up, so I guess I give up. Thanks again.

Tim
