treeMotion Wear-n-Tear

I've been climbing in the saddle on a daily basis for over a year. Just noticed today that the webbing attached from red side ring to green ring on legstraps is tearing. One side worse than the other. Any one else know of this problem? Any one know if I can buy replacement parts??

I am looking to buy a worn out treemotion for an experiment. It will not be used for life support.

It must have all the hardware intact.

Willing to pay more than fair money for the saddle

Please contact me via PM if you can help.
Thank you

Yeah, thanks. I'm sure the webbing is not as strong as it should be. This morning I tied some 5mm tech cord from the red side-ring to the green leg-loop ring as a back up. I'm planning on retiring the saddle. Gonna try something else. Suggestions??

If you liked the tree motion try the new one from Buckingham. Looks to me like they took some ideas from the motion but tried to make it sturdier and last longer. Buckingham is know for their saddles lasting a long time.

There are two threads running around about it.

a saddle that costs that much should have a life expectancy of over a year. i guess im glad i didnt buy one. 4 people with the same problem. sounds like its a lemon!

The Skylotec Kolibri is the best harness I've used in 12 years of climbing, just cut the 3 rear top tool loops off when you get it as they're totally useless.

Its a very well built and comfortable harness, even on long climbs. The Side D's are fixed in the forward position so they're always easy to find when your trying to clip your biner/snap in. It also has the option of the front D's which make for a very comfortable seated position when floating away from the main stem etc. I cant praise this harness enough, well done to whoever thought it up as its one of the most sensible tree climbing harnesses ever made.

Yeah ive got the same wear, its starting to rip and glazed all over.I really love the saddle and hope something is done about it.

that makes 5 with the same problem. thats a serious design flaw. especially if there arne not easily accesible replacement parts. I've owned 3 different lesser harnesses and retired them each after about three years of consistant use, but mostly cause I was bored with them and wanted something cooler. I wouldnt hesitate to strap on any of those harnesses and trust its integrety. I nearly did buy a tree motion but succeeded in pulling back my urges. Now im glad.

The thing I did not like about the new Buck saddle is they used almost a rigging paw (the red one with 3 holes) for a connection point for the bridge. It did not seem as though you could use a snap hook to connect your lanyard, only a biner. I like the TM because you can use the front D's for your lanyard, this did not seem easy with the Buck.

ive got the same wear problems, but not as accelerated as before, it did glaze a bit which worried me but the straps still look to be holding up well, i also float back and forth between the treemotion and treeflex so im sure that helps out a bit, ive been favoring the treemotion a lot more lately. Because of the cooler climates ive started wearing thermals, with both saddles i feel saddle sores with the additional clothing on, more so with the treeflex, but the treemotion offers the second set of d rings that causes 0 saddle sores on my hips (because they are placed lower of course). Also, i have developed quite a nice hernia which will need to be operated on soon, the treeflex aggravates the hernia a bit more where the treemotion acts more of a brace for it.

ive had my eye on the petzl as of late, just feel like giving it a good thrashing, but money is a bit tight, anyone want to trade for a month?

I have both the TM and the Sequoia. My TM shows a little wear as others have mentioned. For the last 6 months Ive been in the Sequoia. It is a good saddle and more durable I think, but the TM is alot more comfortable.
