I think the big thing to remember is they are teaching (and testing) your understanding of the PROCESS. It is assumed you have a degree of competency assessing risk (your passing the assessment part confirms that you do!) ... but are you using the right steps to document and the right language. Focus less on "is the tree in question going to fail" and more on the language used in the system. Go through the manual again. On the retake, think "how would this be worded in the manual" and less "how would I do this".

If you failed it reflects poorly on the instructor. In my opinion. Having taken the course a couple of years ago(passed!) I have found it useful only in the sense of how I view risk scenarios. I've not used it in any official capacity yet. Ask your instructor why you failed.
