Throwlines and limb deflection

Hi, guys;

I've been curious about limb loading for a long time.
I'm wondering if any1 can help me figure out how the ITCC people decided how far off the ground to place a buzzer or throwline to determine a safety factor for limb deflection. I'm betting it's all guesswork, but, somebody knew the concepts about deflections was important enough to make measuring it a permanent part of the ITCC.

This idea has practical field value.

i would think that in most competitions the techs would set up the limb walks based more on reasonable difficulty than safety factor. but i do understand your point regarding the validity of the calculations for the jobsite.
