Tekichu Throwline Launcher

I added an archery trigger and adjustable strap to my Big Shot, but all I did was tie a loop from some starter cord, and girth hitched that loop to the BS strap in which one would normally hold with their fingers.

Besides aesthetics and stowing how is this better than the bigshot? Tubing change is easier, but was never really hard. Will production arborists fork out the extra $ for this?

This just seems like a polished version of something that already works to me. The APTA on the other hand...

My thoughts exactly... What a big shot is around $100 and that includes a pole? If I could afford my morals I would snatch one of these, just so I don't have to support Sherrill tree.... It looks cool and if the price was closer to the BS I'd imagine they would be flying off the shelves, maybe 10-15 more?

Love the comparison.

I thought the design of the Tekichu would allow the tubing to come off the hooks frequently. I can't understand their thinking that this would be an OK thing.

I also want to thank yoyoman for stepping up and buying the Enforcer. Quite a handy tool for finding facts.

Little piece of double sided tape would probably keep them in place and still allow for easy removal.

What I am liking most about this new arrival is that we have a choice of a sling shot on a pole.

Nuts, I was sold in the tekichu before I watched your vid Richard, but now I'm leaning back towards the big shot.
Seems annoying to have the bands popping off. I do hate changing bands on the big shot though, so I guess I'll have to weigh those two.
Also, launching into our firs which I know that you know well, Rich, I think an extra ~15 lbs of force could be significant.
Thanks for your leg work, I don't always comment but it's really helpful to see what you have figured out.

Yep, you won't see me and the Tekichu in Oregon next year even if I make tweeks.
It is always, as we know, personal choice and how each climber uses things. Maybe the weaker bands and the wider grip on the handle will make it more comfortable with adequate distance for many. I always use the "tie down" and triger and get the mechanical advantage with capture, hold it like a shot gun, so the grip etc. means nothing to me.
I don't think it will be worth it to me to try to get the pull I need for those 200' shots and that is about as high as I need to go, can't see much past that anyway, even with binoculars.
If there is a version 2 that has the same strength, folds nicely and is the same weight as the Bigshot...........yep.........I'll pay the extra.

The extra launching strength of the BS seems to be the only thing going for it. If I were to break a BS rubber tube, it's a long process to replace it ... so I take a complete spare head with me to jobsites and leave a spare rubber tube at home. Both BS heads fit in the rifle case with the poles, throw weights, a folding cube and an extra spool of throw line. If the Tekichu ever gets an upgrade to incorporate a stronger rubber tube, I will switch over merely because an onsite repair would be quick.

:oops:What about making a "universal" pouch and using BS rubber? All it would take is to make some plugs the same diameter as the big shot head or the Tekichu balls.. (yes I know....)

I'm very happy with the performance and accuracy of the new Tekichu. I haven't had any issues with the rubber flying out of place.

I need to still make a custom case like Nick made, pretty slick!

The compact, folding/packing ability is GREAT!
