Stihl ms200t

Good luck with that. I just had mine rebuilt(top end), and the Stihl mechanic told me they’re going for 1500-$1600 in that condition in his area.

Ya here too wish I had an old bones saw lying around, my old line clearance foreman took a hold pickup load of old saws to the dump five years ago after he retired, and I know there where a hand full of 200ts in there. That load is worth $$$$$$$ now.

I have a running one for sale. Have it listed but not here (its on a FB arb equipment group). Power head only, starts first or second pull, runs and idles good. Ran 40:1 its whole life, oils great. It's still got good power and has work left in her but she's starting to get tired. Serviceable as is but could use a new sprocket and half of the brake handles pivot is gone (it still functions).

Is it perfect? No, but slap a b&c on it and she'll do work or rebuild the top end over winter and she'll scream again. PM me
I'll bet you could buy this for what he paid for that HHX in the other thread.

Speaking of 200T's, a good friend of mine has a very low time 200T that he messed up by running a tank of regular gas through it. He caught his mistake but not until the saw got hot and scored the piston rings and cylinder. The saw still runs but is pretty sick. Does anybody have any advice regarding rebuilding one of these? Is it worth the time and expense to bore it out and install a sleeve and new piston or should it just be a parts saw? Suggestions?

Has the cylinder been inspected? Or just take a peek at the piston through the exhaust? The cylinder may still be salvage-able with little to no damage and if not an OEM piston and cylinder can be had for a decent price given the worth of the saws these days. I have read many positive reviews about the meteor pistons, but most agree that the cylinder should be OEM if it needs to be changed. Another good option woukd be to send the saw to a reputable builder in your area to have it ported and modded. 2 birds, 1 stone kind of deal

I had a 200t that needed a new piston and cylinder. The Stihl mechanic I used replaced both, and some other tired out parts for around $500. To me that was a worthy expenditure. The “saw king” told me in his area a 200t in that condition (after the rebuild) are selling for 15-$1600.... He should have it rebuilt, a top handle with a tuneable carb is hard to come by nowadays.

I've not had to rebuild my 200t but I had an old 660 was rebuilt at a shop for $600 including labor and I recently rebuilt my 661 replacing the cylinder, piston, gaskets and fuel filter for $260. All OEM parts.

If the labor of rebuilding a 200 isn't terrible, then I'd think it would definitely be worth it.

So far he has not pulled it apart to get a good look at the cylinder. But the rings look pretty bad when viewed thru the exhaust.

I had a piston on a 200t lock up and i purchased a meteor replacement cylinder and piston kit for around $120 on eBay. I also added some new crank seals and rebuilt it myself. The meteor cylinder and piston run great.

Definitely in need of a new piston and ring...I did see a meteor piston on clearance at Baileys a few months back for $26....not sure if it is still available for that price but definitely worth a look
