Stay From Modern Equipment and Bandit Chippers! *DELETED*

Re: Stay From Modern Equipment and Bandit Chippers!

Our brand new bandit didnt have any grease at all in the chute bearing.

It also has a sticker warning you to replace the hydraulic filter after the first 10 hours or use.

Re: Stay From Modern Equipment and Bandit Chippers!

I asked Modern about changing the hydraulic flud after 10 hours when I first got the chipper and they said it was not necessary until the first 50 hour service.

Re: Stay From Modern Equipment and Bandit Chippers!

huh, well the sticker definitley says "replace hydraulic filter after first 10 hours then after each..."

I wonder if thats why it blew up. Chances are Bandit knows the machine more than Modern. I would nail em to the wall for that bull.

Re: Stay From Modern Equipment and Bandit Chippers!

It sounds like you got a lemon.

The winch running backwards should have been a quick fix done by your crew right on the job site. Just the hoses reversed. Lots of machines won't lift the feedwheels at idle due to how hydraulic systems work.

Almost all heavy machinery needs constant observance by experienced operators or else you are going to end up with very large maintinance cost.

Get the issues fixed that you have found and be happy with the chipper. Bandit is a good company and makes a quality product.

Sounds like someone didn't read the owners manual, and spooled the winch backwards. If you pull the cable all the way out whichever way you throw the lever is in.

Re: Stay From Modern Equipment and Bandit Chippers!

The line on the winch can also get stuck with only half of the line out. Got to keep an eye on it and keep those hands clear! (um, voice of experience speaking here....)
