Spending some free time between the trees...

I couldn't find a post about this hobby of mine, but I can't imagine I'm the only one here who loves this!

Last week I did something I've been wanting to do for a long time...PSX_20241116_221828.jpg

Two years ago I slept outside in the woods for the first time. That was in an organized setting. Later that year I bought a hammock, but I didn't feel skilled enough to go into the woods alone so I've only slept in the hammock in the woods once, with some nice guy who was willing to teach me a few things.

That's two years ago and now I finally went for a 3 day hike, with my backpack and hammock. The forest and wildlife here is not dangerous so nothing challenging there, but it is illegal to sleep in the woods so that adds to the adventure so to say.

It feels so great to just be in the forest. To walk and enjoy. To need so little. To sleep in your hammock and dream about someone who snores so loud he wakes you up, only to find out it's not a dream but a wild boar.

Peaceful. I like the Drents-Friese Wold. near Appelscha.

When you visit the woods ever on the West Coast of the USA, do check out the Redwoods at Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. Life Changing.

Enjoy camping and dreaming in the Bos. (Forest)

Because it could disturb the wildlife.
(In the Netherlands there's hardly any place were nature is uninterrupted/undisturbed. So to give the wildlife some space, it's forbidden to be in the woods after sunset and before sunrise)
Wow, interesting, and that would be a bummer as after sunset hours is some of my favorite time in the woods.

Yeah...but, you have a little more woods there. Quick glimpse at Google Earth - looks like the western half of WA is a little bigger than Netherlands. Here is a screen shot of aerial photo of Netherlands - dark green is forest (light green is not):

@Suuz, that is great you had the opportunity to spend time in the woods like that. Something everybody should experience at least once!
