Rico, why do you not like wire core? I would have thought the extra stiffness of it would make it preferred as a flipline for spiking up a fat conifer. Not so?

I PM'ed you.

Sorry, guys, unless you have some superior rakes in trade, that Rico can't resist, I'm in.
I won't hold any grudge if Rico can't hold back. I know he loves good rakes. There are some cutting edge designer-fabricator-tinkerers here who might be ready to go-fund-me on a killer new rake design and need a tester ;)

Ha!
Have you seen the rake heads that attach to common 1.25” pruner poles? Why didn’t I think of that?
That’s some high tech cleanup gear!

I like good old fashioned 3-4 Strand in the 5/8"-7/8" range. Great hand and rolls up a tree better than wirecore as long as you know how the properly roll a flipline. I splice them up with an eye/rope snap on one end and a back splice on the other. Costs me next to nothing and they last for over a year. I still love a 7/8" Manilla wire-core for big stuff, but I loathe the new breed of wire core flip-lines as the rope is super slick (gawd awful hand) they are ridiculously heavy, they wear out extremely fast (Yale Maxi-Flips are the worst), and the steel swivel snaps on these things are a lethal weapon. YMMV of coarse.

I was forced to run a rake, tarp, and blower on Wednesday. I'm still trying to recuperate!!!

Rakes and pole saw/pruners are both pure evil and combining the 2 might just open the gates of hell and usher in the end times?
