Sasuke climbing tool

Hey guys are you familiar with the sasuke tree climbing tool? Aka tree bike. Feel free to look it up and tell me what you think. It looks like a neat tool. But seems like it could be awkward because your sitting the whole time. I can’t picture anyone operating a saw while sitting on one of those. Have any of you used it before? Or be interested in buying one for the right price? It’s kind of like the same concept as the Swiss grippers and they go for 2500. I found a company that sells the sasuke for a good price but I have to buy 500 units from China. Do you guys think it’s a good investment? Would people really want them? I would sell each for 500. Tell me what you guys think. Would climbers buy them? Thanks

I would think you could diy one pretty easy from an old bow hunting climbing tree stand. I couldn't see wanting one myself though.

Nope! For one thing, this industry relies on safety standards, I highly doubt that meets any.

Its not life-support. Meant to be used with a climbing line.

Neither is this new battery powered ascender yet it required certification? Still needs backup of some kind?

What I’m suggesting is that it’s probably fine for use recreationally, but I have a hard time thinking WCB would be good with it? Maybe I’m wrong?

A foot ascender with a climb line is fine. This is just a foot platform, right? Its just a place to stand, like a crotch.

Hey I’m not saying it ain’t cool! I’d try it! In fact I’ve only seen WCB once in 3 years around here! They only ever come into town when someone bites it!

But I do think foot ascenders and the like are still required to be tested for use in a commercial industry. I know petzyl and other companies have their gear engineered and it needs to pass inspections before sale to the public / industry. But again I could be wrong?

These bicycle climbers are made for coconut harvesting and similar operations. Not really aimed at what we think of as arborcultural market

Any bow hunter will tell you they aren't good for much other than straight trees with very few branches.

So I think we are in agreement, more of a novelty thing than a practical one. Could lead to innovation though?
