who races in open climb ascent?
I know very little about this but would like to get involved.
I know there are guys I know who do this, I just don't know who they are.
if you know me and do this please. PM me, anyone else post up any info you got! thanks

Michael

I would totally race you. I might lose. But I would do it.

I had to post something here, cause I was really hoping people would have something to say about this subject

I just did an oil/filter change change on my HAAS. I also bought a spoiler kit for it to help guide it into the rope path a bit more when I hit the NOS button. Flame job is coming later...get the mechanical work down first, then cover up the gray primer. New cam springs in the Pantin, and advanced the timing on my Rope Wrench.

Bring it!

I know a good place off the beaten path where the cops never go. If the race doesn't come together, we could play a game of 'Chicken'.

Eric,
your on. I got a new double pumper, ready to go. any time my friend any time!

I had a cave guy call me out to his world record races, he told me the fastest known 60 ft was 20 seconds, and that I was a lier! I kinda want to get a old fat guy to HAAS his way into the caving record books…. I have not been in a tree in a while, I may end up being that old fat guy!

Isn't that a line from "The Fast and the Deciduous"?

Donny's BACK! Nice to see that...

You just cracked me up, bra.

Yes my friend ...I AM BACK!!!
I'll be contacting you after the holidays. Happy Holiday to you and yours and to all the folk out there. Stay safe.

The M or fastest, least effort rope ascent just needs to be made safe (backed up)and having a quick change over to a work system. Looks killer.

Anyone ever test a recumbent bike ascent machine?

Don't most folks consider two separate ascenders to be a backed up system? I'm not comfy with it, but just to play devils advocate.

My boss and I were just talking about the idea of a pedal driven ascension tool. It would be pretty sweet.

I have not been killed yet by using two ascenders. Many miles logged. I'm not racing anybody though. Once you start racing, it would be a good idea to have a third party belay you, as the competitive spirit has been the undoing of many fine and otherwise sensible humans. I do know that using a slow STR ascent system you can beat any DBRT humpers any day and stop to eat your lunch half way to the cowbell.

True!

I saw Michael demonstrate his M system at the recent Atlanta tree climber rendezvous. I also inspected it. The M system appeared to be built strong, I could see no safety gotchas, other than what you'd find in its nearest relative the well accepted two ascender Texas System. Whether anyone needs that kind of ascent speed for day-to-day climbing is another question, it is a very fast SRT rig if speed is your first priority (bearing in mind the question that started this thread).
