RIP Dean Potter

Holy cow, that is epically bad. He was an inspiration to many people. He was just featured in that Yosemite show and said he felt he did his stuff safely so he could do it into old age. Where did you hear?

Yeah, Its Dean. I heard it through the climber grapevine this afternoon but they didn't have any details other than that it was a BASE/Wingsuit accident. Just read an article from Outside magazine that had a bit more info. It was Dean and a friend, Graham Hunt. Dean has been one of my heroes since I started climbing 17 years ago. I was fortunate enough to meet him in Moab and at Indian Creek a few times. He was truly an amazing and inspiring individual. One of the most genuine and generous humans I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The world is a bit smaller place without him.

Wow that's crazy! His ex wife, Steph Davis, lost both of her husbands to base jumping accidents. I'm glad his dog Whisper wasn't with him on that one. Pretty sad news.

Just came from Yosemite. They were jumping Taft point. We think they may have touched or got close and got distracted. They hit opposite sides of the gully , 3rd class terrain. No chutes deployed. Sean Leary also died last year base jumping. All were highly skilled and very experienced. Dean will be missed.
