Reversed opening Hms carabiner

Jeff, are you referring to the direction of the barrel of the gate (up vs. down), or the hinge point of the gate itself (wide side vs. narrow side)?

Gotcha. I think the trouble with that would be loading it with certain hardware that wouldn't be able to slide around the tight bend at the "bottom" in order to orient them on the wider "top".

I guess it could be an advantage for certain things...

I think someone was talking about this before for a Rope Wrench setup using a Pinto pulley.

I'm thinking you should design the hinge at an angle so that the gate will swing past the major axis (rather than straight towards it) to get a nice wide opening...like those big Omega carabiners.
