?Question for Sir Tree Rat?

Is it just that it is getting hot, or is it like this every year? I have been popping in on here from time to time since I have been a member. But it seems that lately there have been alot more accidents and deaths.

And some that should never of happened. People that should have not had a saw or been on a job. I have done some stupid things, and am lucky to be alive, but still.

Is this less than, more than, equal too? Or is this just the begining?

And now that I think about it, everyone is all ways in the delima of weather tree work is in the same catagory as logging when it comes to danger. And we probably are more, for the fact that your average Jo doesn't walk into the woods one day and say, "I think I am going to sell some logs" but the average Jo does say, "I think I am going to climb this here ladder and cut these limbs off of my roof?"

Sorry for side tracking, but it does seem like a lot of non sence!

Couldn't resist.

Tree work is busiest in the summer for most companies, hence the increase in accidents. More personal in the field. The winter can be slow for many businesses, so less people are actively working in the tree industry. Thats my guess. Also storms always bring about a lot of work, and dangerous work at that, so an increase in accidents can also be anticipated with storms

TANNER,
There has been a slight increase in accident numbers so far this year, then in years past. The weather is one factor, the economy, complacency, operator error, and yes just plain stupidity.

So, far I think there have been 10-12 Tree Company owner deaths in the first 5 months of this year.

I am seeing a spike in "Electrocution Deaths", most of the different types accidents come in waves, it's weird.

Definitely a lot more Home-owner accidents.
