Promotion of the trade

This is the way that the VHG (a assosiation from Dutch Green Trade Company's) thinks a promotional film should look like.
After a few minutes one of the gardeners starts a ´Take Down´.
This company stated that they where working by the industry´s rules and with approved gear.

Jeah 100 BC perhaps.

This video goes to all the ´green´ schools in Holland to round up kids for the trade. What a great example /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
Scroll a bit down on the page for the right download.
You can leave the speakersystem off because it is in Dutch.

One more time.... This is a promotional movie for the green industry. In Holland the green industry thinks the arbo´s are a pain in the /forum/images/graemlins/zbanghead.gif a s s

Are gardeners exempt from wearing helmets and safety glasses?

When the woman was driving from home to the shop there was a shot of her perfect, long, fingernails. Not like any that I'd expect to see on someone who works in the green industry :)

It looked like a fun MTV video but not a good one to show case good arbo work.

I feel allot dumber from watching that. But I can see your complaints and whats with that tiny chipper, it would gag on a pencil

Ha Wolter,

I see that the link to this movie is also on the dutch KPB-ISA website. Any comment from our association towards this published movie? I think the way they present 'climbing' is way wrong... Not only the missed safety messures, also the 'talking about' in the movie is way simplified. They show 'climbing' as beeing tough and brave to do with a attitude 'we will fix that job fast and easy etc etc etc'. To less pointed out onto the skills required to do it right. Its like when you finished education youre a skilled person in takedowns or so. I know there must be a start for young people in treework, but giving 'climbing' standart in regular education makes to much hacks in my opinion. Some will grow into the fine bussines of arborist, most that has basic skills will just climb to make a client happy as they ask to do (or even just hack around and let the client think its to be done as they did)

I don't think so Tom, well at least not doing the dishes at home:-)

I am stirring up the assosiation hoping they will shoot the movie again. Hopefully with miss perfect hair/long fingernails and ME as the arb finishing the day at the fireplace. /forum/images/graemlins/pbj.gif
