Okay! It can stop anytime now!

Shadowscape

Been here a while
Location
far north
We are at 128 inches of snow this winter so far. Tuesday and Wednesday they are calling for 16 more inches of snow. At this rate I won't see grass (or in my case weeds) until June sometime. Enough is enough! Everybody stop breathing and making CO2.

We ended the winter with less than 0.3” of snow for the winter, and the couple times it did snow, it was gone within a few hours. Our annual average is about 25”. Not a lot, but still a lot more than we saw this year.

I would happily have taken some of what you’re getting this year, that’s impressive! What is your average snowfall?

Around 80 inches.

I live in Chardon, Ohio (NE OH).
This year is very near a record low: 59” (thru March)

Record Low: 46” (1979-1980)
Average: 106”
Record High: 161 (1959-1960)

I have seen it snow in NE OH on May 5th !
It is always a 50/50 chance it will snow here on opening of Minnesota fishing, which is around May 12th ish. And there is a chance that up here in the north the lakes will still be iced over for opening of fishing.
Back in my thirties I fell through the ice when it was 62 below zero while snowshoeing across a lake. Lake had three feet of ice on it, but I didn't know it was spring feed. Went where I shouldn't have gone. I was lucky and had the help of someone else to get me back.
I'm just complaining. I shouldn't, but I do have a driveway that is a 1/4 mile long and it does get tiring to blow that much snow after 6 months.
Pay no attention to my rambling. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

I can't plow as I have trees right up to the edge. No place to push the snow to. Run a 2 wheel drive ambulance as my everyday vehicle. Great for hauling my gear, bad for snow. But I can put my 4 wheeler in it when I need to bring it along to get into the back country without hauling it on a trailer. Has its good points, but it would be nice if it was 4 wheel drive.

It just snowed yesterday. Last April snow I remember was 15 years ago just after my son was born! It’s been a very wet late winter/early spring. Not looking forward to the light switch pattern. In 2020 we had a couple of fires sparked off by the county road crews this time of year.

It is moving in on me as we speak. Expecting around 16 inches between now and Thursday morning. In there a bunch of ice and 50 mph winds. Will have a lot of work ahead of me on account of this storm. Use to look forward to it. Not so much anymore. Nice warm summer days for me, not winter work.
Then we will have a month of mud.
Got the generator ready to go. Will probably be firing it up in a couple of hours.

Just got my Generac 24 kW generator installed last month.
My neighbor said he was going to Home Depot to buy a 600 ft extension cord to plug in ! ;)

I just have a 11KW portable. But it keeps the essentials going if I switch some things off and other things on from time to time. I bought a 100 foot cord for it a couple of years ago. Figured I could have it far enough away from the house I wouldn't have to hear it running. Cord weighs 76 pounds. Did that once and decided I could put up with hearing it run.
It's snowing!!!!!
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose

Congratulations we have the same generator and absolutely love it
No more dragging one out of our barn and putting gas in especially when it’s hot and dark pretty dangerous
Out of town no problem one of the best investments for our home

Natural gas supply; Auto-start-transfer-stop; Weekly start test for 5 min. at 3 different levels; WiFi e-mails of status changes; etc.
Installation was more involved that I expected. I thought it would be more "plug-&-play".
It was delivered completely assembled; but required 4 men 5-6 hours to complete electrical, gas, setup, etc.

Very little snowfall this winter... I'd consider trading for the back to back to back storms we keep getting. last night was the latest. Don't get me wrong, I know some folks have it way worse...

Okay, I'm there.
Came in from the fourth snow blowing of my driveway with this storm, and it is still coming down. Look out my living room picture window and all I see is a wall of snow. The road grader that plows the township road I am on is stuck about a 1/2 mile down the road. Looks like the front end is down in a ditch as only the ass end is visible, and it seems to be pointing upward. At least I don't have to go anywhere today.... yet.
