While the training world has certainly changed, we here at North American Training Solutions have been developing some new, some revamped and more accessible courses.

In the last few months we have worked closely with OSHA and have developed an arboriculture based OSHA 10 and 30 hour program. It has to be delivered as a video conference style course, per OSHA, but meets all the requirements.

Our Empower the Educator program has moved on line as well. While we have had to remove much of the arborist technical information for obvious reasons, we have worked hard to keep the comprehensive program the same valuable, accessible, trainer focused program with leadership emphasis in a transformational teaching and learning style.

Check out what we currently offer as keep checking in as we are currently looking to revamp many more including chainsaw and EHAT.

Looks great. I've heard of the OSHA classes but never really understood who is required to have it and what it does for the individual who has the card (aside fro the obvious of being more knowledgeable)

Steve,

The 10 hour is meant as an entry level intro to basic OSHA regulations and safety practice. The 30 is a supevisory level with the same basics, but expanded on topics and scope.

Both are a common Requirement for subcontractors working for larger management companies in construction and other general industry. It shows the employer that the holder has a base of knowledge. Think tree worker certificatio.

we run into it a lot working with electric and gas utilities for line cleareance. Thye will often require workers to have a 10 hour and crew leaders a 30 to work on their property. The certification travels with the worker. An employer may pay for it, but OSHA certifies the individual, not the company. So in essence if you hire a 10 or 30 hour card holder, you know they have had a certain basis of safety training.

OSHA has some pretty strict requirements for content, but does allow for elective topics. These electives we used for more tree related topics as best as possible.

If anyone is looking to bid or work on jobs involving utility or line clearence, espicialy transmission and sub transmission, you will most likely need the 10 if you are a laborer and a 30 if you are higher up the food chain.
