New spin on the barrel stove

I think that is a bad idea on so many levels.......
X2.
  • You'd need a dedicated room for it.
  • How do you get logs that long in your house? Well, you'd need your groundie.
  • It would need constant attention, which is fine in the same room, but you wouldn't want to walk across the house over and over.
  • Would you store the logs in the house?

Might be cool in a shop though.

Easy Peasey. The ground floor of the house is basically a ranch type setup.
The logs could come in thru the garage door ........................... or directly into the living room thru the end window !

Multi purpose. The kids could sit on the log while watching tv...as you no longer own a couch, arm chairs, and just about everything else in your living room - that all had to go to make room for the new tree eating stove.

Yeah, I think it looks more like something for a shop... That you wouldn't mind burning down every once in a while. Looks awesome though.

But there could be benefits ……..

As the evening goes on the log gets shorter.
When one of the kids fall off the end …………………. it’s time for bed.
No augments, no fuss, no seat …………time for bed.

One problem with that ……………… I don’t have kids.

Anyone have some “loaners” ?

I picked up one of those diaphramic openings at the dump and never knew what to use it for. Just thought it was nice and shiny. Not sure this is what I'll do with it exactly.

Any log that it would "eat" i would call chipper food. Interesting to say the least; but how do you make it safe to leave you house? Im not sold.

My dad spent some time in SE Alaska. He was out diving for sea cumbers or something in a little motor boat when a storm came up. He took off to the nearest land to wait out the storm, and spent the night in a brush pile to stay out of the weather. In the morning the water was still to rough so he went wondering around and saw smoke. Eventually he came up to a cabin with a 1/2 a tree hanging out of the front door balanced on the porch. He was welcomed in by two drunk Norwegian brothers who ran out of saw mix, and just drug a dead tree straight in to the fireplace.
