New life for old ropes

I like this idea alot.
My friend makes them and they look great!
When you look at where the usual door matts are made it seems like they all are made overseas by who knows, kids, forced labor?
Recycling can never be a bad thing

I never got around to trying, but shortly after the patriotic furor began (post 9/11/01) it occurred to me that most of us have pieces of reds, whites and blues that could be spliced together into a flag . . . I know Tom has some greens and yellows, and probably there are other colors out there--maybe a mural is the creative outlet you've been looking for.

I made one for a rock climber friend of mine. He gave me an old rope and said, "Here, do something with this before I kill myself."

I laid it on the ground in a tight spiral, then used a small waxed line and just weaved over/under back and forth across the thing. I rolled it up and gave it to him for a birthday present. He said I likes stepping on it because it's the only rope he's encouraged to step on (it's in his garage and his wife yells at him when he tracks in mud..."You have that nice rug. Use it!")

Just an idea.
