New guy needs a saddle

Hello everyone. I'm Mike from Saskatchewan. I'm brand new here and to tree climbing. Well I haven't even climbed a tree yet. (with a rope that is)
I'm looking for a saddle to get me started. I just missed a couple of cougars here and I was wondering if anyone else has a good saddle laying around that they would let go. I'm a size 33 waist. 5'9" 175 lbs.
Thought I would try here before buying new and save some $.

BTW I've surfed other sites for a few months and I like the vibe you have going here at TreeBuzz. Good crew here!

Hay there, I am new here too. I checked you out earlier on who's online. Tree climbing and work in general, either you will love or not. If you love it great! I tell any one new that comes two work, that if you don't like, get away from it! I'm sure you will love it though. I might have a saddle. If I can find it. A basic saddle, if can find it, I'll just send it. Unless I don't have enough, then you can pay for it. lol... I have to look for it, I'll let you no! With c-line, carabiners, lanyards, and things like that, I suggest to buy new! that way you don't second guess what is holding you up!

That's a great offer Tanner. Thanks. I bought new rope and biners and false crotch. Everything I need for hitch climbing. rope bag, hand saw, helmet, 4 books, 1 dvd set, ... it all starts to add up. Safety first - economy second. I plan on doing things right... that's why I'm here reading and listening to you guys.

Haven't cruised this site in a long time. I worked a year or two in the business, and decided it wasn't for me. Just came to the site to see about selling a saddle. It is a New Tribe Work saddle. Check out their website. If you are interested, let me know, we could probably work something out. I am around your size and have no doubt that it would fit. i found it pretty darn comfy myself. I have a bit of other stuff too, if you are looking.

Hi Mike,

What part of Sask. are you from. This Sept. the Prairie Chapter of the ISA is having their annual conference and tree climbing "comp" in Saskatoon. Pretty rare to have it in Sask.

I'm near Christopher Lake and a well trained climber. If you want to come up for a rec. climb or spend a day on the job.

These native boreal trees are not the greatest, more fun to have big laterals. The best local trees are found along the Sask. river. Big cottonwoods with branches that grow over the river. Otherwise city parks and street trees.

Hi Boreality,

Thats a great offer, thanks but I'm in Regina. Which a quick look at the map tells me is about 7 hours from you. I got hooked up with a local arborist (Natalie R) through Rob Romeril and she's offered the same.
I went to Ness Creek last summer and had a great time so I don't plan on any trips this year. I'm not a ISA member yet but may go to Toon town just to mingle.
Thanks for saying hi.

Oh man I should of checked this earlier. You leave my fish alone. Actually I don't know what to say. Again see you at the conference and more importantly the climbing events (conferences suck gotta go for the ceus). There might be some interesting speakers I'm pretty sure you could get in the side door (not the back door) at no cost. Not sure of the dates but they would be on the chapter's website. I should of known from the title of the thread, there's the burn I was looking for.

Mr Woods,
Just thought I'd BUMP this thread for you.
Did you get any replies yet?
Hey, you look like a real tree climber now.

Thanks Kramer.

Yes I'm talking to Maine Climber about his NT saddle. Slow going as he's busy with life.
The Gorilla idea came to me last night. Thought I'd try it out. Seems like a good totem for my biz.
Cheers

No luck getting a used saddle so I bought a new cougar. Arrived on the bus today. Thanks all for your input. Now I start learning. Low and slow. Yeah, I'm listening.

Cheers
