New august hunicke video

Watched it at 5am this morning.

As much as I think we humans are serving technology instead of vice versa....I have to say I am grateful for battery chainsaws and watching arborists at the peak of their craft of Youtube ;)

I saw that a well, looks like an interesting idea for sure. Knowing how light the saws are without the battery, being able to run one that way looks pretty amazing in terms of low-impact/ease of use. I've been using the 540i (rear handle) for a few weeks now and am VERY happy with it, my first batter saw. The T540i (climber) has been in and out of stock and hard to get a hold of but I should have it shortly and will share some impressions after I've got some hours on it.

I might actually pull the trigger on the husky climbing saw now, especially if august releases the saddle mount. My personal 201 doesn’t get enough use to warrant a gas saw and all the maintenance that goes with a saw that gets used once a month. I have a work issued 201 that gets used daily sidelining my personal relatively new saw.

Wow! That’s interesting. The battery is still on the harness though, so you’re still carrying the weight, and with the big battery, it is more than if you have the standard battery. I could see this being a good option for someone who has suspenders, and for someone who doesn’t want to switch batteries as often (i.e. conifer use).

The battery itself would be subject to more wear and tear. The housing of the chainsaw protects 4 sides of it.

I absolutely love my 540 lixp, but I don’t think I’d want this.

Absolutely! It’s such a great saw, you’ll never regret it! I have to get my 200 tuned up now bc I haven’t used it in a year!

I have been hoping someone would do this for a while. I think the ideal thing would be for Husqvarna to collaborate with someone on building a battery pack that clips to the saddle. The cord would ideally be strong and secure enough to function as the saw lanyard.

What about a cord that acts as a lanyard if the battery pack or cord can be attached properly? The only issue I see is another thing that will get caught on something.

I've seen people do this with rotary hammer drills for rock climbing, On Rope has a little diagram.

Is the Husky battery backpack seen in some of their advertising the last few years a reality?

You are on multiple wait lists right? Once you get one mind keeping your name on the list? Or see if possible to transfer your spot in line?

That was for a 500i which I got a little while ago. For the T540i I ordered it through Bailieys back on 6-2, and at the time it said 'more in stock on 6-25.' Well it's the 26th now soooooo I'm hoping that is true and I'll get a shipping notification shortly but who knows. Looking at their site just now it says 'more coming on 7-10' so hopefully they had a shipment which I'm included in. That's the only place I'm 'waiting in line,' so unfortunately I can't help you out there but wish I could.
