NEC-ISA TCC Workday - January 14

Location
MA
For all of those in New England who'd like to offer some help prepping trees for this year's Tree Climbing Championship, we'd love to have your help.

This year's event will be held at the Blithewold Arboretum in Bristol, RI. It's a stunning place, with beautiful trees.

Many hands make light work, and we'd appreciate any you could offer whether it's pruning, dragging brush, or raking up.

Please PM me or visit the Chapter's website for more information.

can potential competitors help with this? I know sometimes that is frowned upon. But I could see if hard to find helpers who are NOT going to compete. I have three in my company maybe four who might all be willing to help.

There is stuff to be done that doesn't involve the comp trees, you guys could probably get in on it. I just don't know how much there is.

Yes, but I know people who feel its unfair to even watch "someone else" climb the trees that will be used in competition. I'm not even sure if i can compete, so this might be a moot point. But if i were to help out, and the be able to compete, I wouldn't want people feeling like I had an unfair advantage thats all!!

Well, It's five months out and the site is pretty spread out. I'm sure you could help in a capacity that wouldn't be a conflict. I am waiting to hear from Melissa with specific questions and will let you know.

If folks want to help, you will not be turned away. The committee will decide on which trees will be used for what. This information will not be shared with volunteers (as not to create a possible future issue).

With that being said, anyone can come help...

Thanks in advance for anyone willing and able.

Okay all -

Blithewold Arboretum
Directions to Blithewold Arboretum
Time: 9-2pm
Coffee & bagels will be available in am
Pizza for lunch

We will have 4 buckets, 4 chippers & 2 log loaders on hand. I know of 8 definite climbers with gear and climbing saws offering their services too.

Any other help would be greatly appreciated (groundies and clean up help).

Many thanks in advance!
Melissa

It was a blast!! It was great to meet everyone/ see everyone again! My only complaint is that y'all need to learn some respect for party pizza!! Just so all competitors know, I was kept well away from the comp trees! This is going to be the nicest TCC venue I've seen! I can't wait for May!

It was a great day. I' m totally stoked about pruning the sequoia. Definetly one for the memory banks. Thanks!!!
