Laundering Pfanners

Tonight I took my Pfanner Gladiators and Arborwear Ascent jacket to the laundromat. To make a long story short, I left get some grub and when I returned the attendant said he added fabric softener to my loads to "cut the soap suds" and that maybe I should try less soap next time. The instructions on the articles in question both are specific to state No Softener. How pissed should I be?

The guy says "I didn't want you to have to spend another $3.50 to run the load again because of all the suds." I told him it was over $500 worth of clothes the $3.50 really not that big of a deal. I left it as warning him that he really shouldn't just be adding product to people's machines because he's not always aware of contents or allergies.

I would file a formal complaint with the owner documenting the cost of the clothes and letting them know that the clothing is safety equipment for your job and if there is any failure of the items that you will expect replacement. You are right, the attendant shouldn't be messing with other people's stuff.

not cool. I'm one of those people allergic to that crap, and I think it stinks. I'd be pissed on those grounds alone.

I can't speak for the Arborwear jacket, but have owned three pair of Pfanners. I don't think washing them once with fabric softener is going to have a huge determent to the pants. I'm pretty sure that at some time mine have seen the odd addition of softener by accident.
You were probably wise in informing the attendant not to continue this practice, if for anything, those with allergies.

Has anyone tried the Pfanner "Wash Power Intensifier" product? I have used a "sport clothing" soap in the past and occasionally use stain spray on the conifer sap. I am under the assumption that the less these pants get washed, the longer the engineered fabric will perform.

Fabric softener works by coating the fibers in chemicals, making them electrically conductive so they feel "smoother" on your skin. I'd be pissed. With saw protection the stakes are too high for something to be potentially screwed up.
