Still sucks a dick
So the backstory, Kevin is the overall foreman at my new company but he's only worked with my crew of 5 guys three days since I've been there.
A few weeks ago were 2 men short on a Thursday & Friday so Kevin's with us, I'm up in a large multi stem silver maple take down getting shit done speed lining it down the hill it's on to the driveway so my two normal guys and Kevin dont have to drag shit down, and then hike back up the steep hill 90' to and from the chipper 1000 times.
Let's back up to the start of the day, now this is a large property, 5th day were there, the removal has been on the work order since day 1, there's no doubt it's A the right tree and B needs to come down yet he decides at 8:15am as I'm geared up and flip line around the tree to spike up that he's gonna go wake the home owner to "make sure". She comes out and talks with us atleast 45min or an hour before we can set to work.
Here we are 9am I start up this large tree. Ninety min later tree is over half gone. It was a triple lead, one lead is gone, one is a stick for my rigging point the other is in the process of being limbed.
Kevin blows his shit; "this shits taking to long, your new ways are taking to long, zip zip zip and I'd have that limbed and we'd be dropping the stems by now" and here's what pissed me off "we started at 8"
No bitch, we started at 9 cause your a fucking moron. It's only 10:30 now.
I pointed out the minimal work they're doing, the lack of any holes in the yard or this ladies beloved juniper bushes directly below the tree and how every branch lands the same way, butt first so it's a 5' drag to the chipper.
He still bitches and says he doesn't care about the lawn or the bushes and he's there to drag brush so don't worry about the ground guy's workload. I'm pissed by this point so I say fuck it and "zip zip zip" 3 large cuts including the whole top of that stem like he said, no rigging just bomb them. Totally fuck one bush and leave a hole or two in the grass. Professional? Fuck no, but I'm pissed.
I pull my gear and come out of the tree and hes like "can you cut that part of the bush you broke" to which I reply loudly "fuck no MF, we don't care about bushes remember", I then go on to point out, still loudly how he told me the day before to spike up a tree I was using for my TIP for a unsafe to climb removal, a very technical removal that the day before he literally said he was scared of when he left it to me. Note I didn't, and never in my planning of how to get it done did I even consider spiking this tree, just mentioning it since it went with the theme of Kevin not caring. The other ground guys, my normal guys, are fucking loving it, yes they're now dying dragging a tree 90' and walking back up but they get it (no one likes Kevin and they warned me about his shit almost daily) so they don't say shit about the work and just enjoy watching Kevin dying cause he usually doesn't do real work.
Anyway that's my first new job story for ya guys. Hopefully the next one I have to tell is a better one...
