Some picture of a pruning job we did this morning (only on the left side, ie. over the customer's yard). Tree on the neighbor's property, big cavity in the base. Felt good to take the job away from another larger company (not you Steve). They wanted to take off the 2 left laterals=9" cuts X2. Young homeowner wanted a second opinion. I explained that the tree may have 1 more year, or 10, but no sense in hurrying it along. Achieved her goals of reducing leverage weight, little more shade to the garden, deadwooding, & shifting the favor ever so slightly back to the neighbor's side--all at half the price & 2" cuts . She stated they were great neighbors, and that the neighbors loved the tree. Taking those 2 large laterals would have shifted the favor significantly, and worst case, could have ended a neighborly relationship. My experience is that younger homeowners are easier to explain proper tree care to--still trying to figure out the why of that.
