007.webp 008.webp 009.webp 010.webp Some picture of a pruning job we did this morning (only on the left side, ie. over the customer's yard). Tree on the neighbor's property, big cavity in the base. Felt good to take the job away from another larger company (not you Steve). They wanted to take off the 2 left laterals=9" cuts X2. Young homeowner wanted a second opinion. I explained that the tree may have 1 more year, or 10, but no sense in hurrying it along. Achieved her goals of reducing leverage weight, little more shade to the garden, deadwooding, & shifting the favor ever so slightly back to the neighbor's side--all at half the price & 2" cuts . She stated they were great neighbors, and that the neighbors loved the tree. Taking those 2 large laterals would have shifted the favor significantly, and worst case, could have ended a neighborly relationship.

My experience is that younger homeowners are easier to explain proper tree care to--still trying to figure out the why of that.

002.webp 004.webp 005.webp Here's a live oak we trimmed off a customer's house yesterday. First treatment I've given this one. There was 1-- 4" cut and 2-- 3" cuts--everything else was around 1 1/2". There was lots of dead wood in the middle of the canopy. Because we took so much foliage off the left side, we didn't want to risk thinning the rest of the canopy very much. Her main concern was getting separation from the roof. I told her to let 2 years go by, and give it another treatment--more with shape in mind.

Thank you Sir! Treelogic and I talked a year ago or so about posting trim jobs (before & after pics)--he suggested that I go first. **Anyone's likely to get poked in the eye if it's not done just right.** Honestly, I don't get that many prune jobs, but more than I used to.

Impressively done and documented! Whacking the two 9" limbs would have been slow death. I hope your colleague takes note.

Warms my old cold heart. :)

Thanks Guy! Glad it made you happy.

Not sure the colleague takes notes, but, who knows? maybe he is curious why he didn't get the job and I did.

When he showed up to get his equipment next door, I was still in the tree, but almost finished pruning. He asked the homeowner, "Is that all he's taking? You know, my price was for taking both those large limbs?" So, his mindset is, the more you take, the more "bang for your buck." I had already educated the HO, so she just rolled her eyes :bailando:

Trimmed these for a customer back in Harrisonburg, VA. Seems they haven't had any attention in 25 years since they were planted--other than Asplundh taking the tops off for clearance of the lines. Customer said they were on a 3 year cycle, therefore we didn't do anything to the tops of them--that will get taken care of in short order ;)
