Moved into a larger space this week, looking to add lots of plants inside. Anyone have any suggestions for interesting small tree species that would do well inside in a large pot? I hate to be buying anything that the big box hardware stores call a "tree."

A long while back there was a thread on here about meyer lemon trees. Based on the thread I sprouted 4 seeds. I gave one away and the other three died in a move. The survivor is now about 4’ tall and 8+ years old. It has yet to flower (my understanding is they take forever if seed grown). It’s a pretty cool pet

This is bonsai, properly. Most of them rotate inside/outside. They are taller when you have them on a table. I would also like to see a list of species that can stay inside. At least one of the common species is a Ficus I believe. Maybe there are rarer ficus?

Thanks! This is great all around. We have a cat, and our new spot has roses, thanks for that tip.

Another question I have is who takes care of the trees inside the Charlotte airport? I'f be pretty psyched to get that work order, nothing like working with climate control...

Perhaps a Mock Orange? Or some type of Olive? I’ve been debating growing an olive in my house for years, I’ve just never done it.

I've had a now 3' Grumachama (Eugenia brasiliensis), aka Brazilian cherry growing indoors for about 8 years, started about 12" as a seedling from a random dude who had a pretty sweet greenhouse at his home. Dont know how its still alive cause I neglect the fuck out of it but if it can make it with the level of care it gets it should absolutely thrive with good care.
Never fruited and very minimal blooming but it grows leaves like nobody's business.

Fruit trees can be kept compact or flat---espalier
I'd like a lemon tree. My local public conservatory had a lemon growing in Chicago winter when I was a kid. Seems its still growing in the same spot 30-some years later, producing fruit. Left an impression on me.
