How often ?

I have an idea for a biner and would like to take a pole in here .

How often do you take your friction devise off your rope or biner? Sometime I find myself taking it off two to three times a day, depending on what I'm doing . Other times I never take it off of for acouple of days .

Thanks

I take it off between trees/when I hit the ground. Of course, I don't take it off the biner or the becket of the Fixe.

I take my LockJack off all the time.
One of the advantages of the device is too be able to disconnect either the end of the rope, or disconnect directly from the saddle.
I find this necessary when moving around, and in, a tree while pruning to get the best angle on my climb line

Re: How often ?-POLL

My hitch comes off after just about every tree, unless I am prunning a bunch of small trees. I have also noticed if you slide your hitch back up to the splice instead of removing it the rope tends to hockle more.

Re: How often ?-POLL

what about a biner that had two raised bumps on either side of the top end to keep your hitches from sliding around ? your hitch attachment on the biner would be to the inside of those bumps. I know they make little leather pieces to keep this from happening and you probably have some of your own ideas, but nothing is incorporated into the biner itself.

What do you think ? pain in the ass or something that might fly.? or do they allready have something .?

Thanks
Greg

below is an attachement of our latest pondo. climb in plumas county . Jerry Beranek and Noah Kwolek coming out of the tree.

I like that idea

I could see that as being useful. I guess you could put some "speed bumps" in with electrical tape to make a prototype, see how it works...refine it, etc. Or maybe even epoxy cement would work...if you're handy with that stuff.

The bumps would have to be small enough to let the eyes of the hitch get through when you wanted them too, but big enough to keep things there while you're climbing.

hmmmmmmm

Re: That\'s a huge old Ponderosa!

Russ,

This tree is up around Bucks Lake. I wont even try to explain where exactly it is. However , Hartman Bar is the trail head. Heres another pic af the typ of limbs in this tree.
