how much would you charge...

to fell two 80' scarlet oaks on someones property. no climbing involved just straight felling. they are both dead because the owners cut the roots when digging a septic system. there is no chance of them falling on the house or anything else just an easy fell. then bucking them and then hauling them off in personal truck.
how much would you charge if you were doing this as a job?
thanks in advance for any insight

How much you got, and how badly you want it done?

Without pics and diameters will be hard but lets assume it is pretty straight forward:

Here is my tirekicker price

$150 each to dump the trees
$100/hour to cut them up
$200 each to haul it all away if I use my big truck otherwise if a pick up truck $75/ hour to load, haul and unload plus tipping fees.

So your ball-park figure is $500 each.

could be much less could be much more and this quote is as useless as boobs on a bull.

I know some hacks that would do it for less than $200.

Question is, what is it worth to you?

lmao wtf if you don't know how to bid it then please just don't try to do it, tell them to call someone that knows wtf.

why not change the name from tree buzz to please help the scab bid work hahahahahahahahahah

oh an dbh is 30+ inches

[/ QUOTE ]

Ignore my last numbers....quadruple them!

30 inch wood is heavy, no personal truck of mine is willing to take too much at one time. That means at least 10 trips to the wood dump.

Cutting that puppy up so it can be moved will take a while too.

Lets see, Oh wait! I can't see...how 'bout some pics?

What is access, what about getting a Swinger Loader in there?

Might be best just to tell them $yyy.yy per hour until it is done. That way you won't shoot yourself in the foot!

What are you thinking about charging for it?

I hope you not planning on felling them on his new septic system. Big no no. Dint drive any equipment on it either (if it is a field or sand mound).

If you raking/doing fine clean up u will definitely be there for the day...and maybe more depending on you distance of hauling. 30" dbh I would be looking at about 2-3 load with my 7x10' 10,000 lbs dump trailer. And if your loading by hand it takes awhile.

Putting them safely on the ground wouldn't cost much, straight falling at ~$150-$250 each. Moving the wood though... you're gonna want a loader and a dump truck. Since you don't have one, find an insured debris cleanup crew (Craig's List) and have them bid the cleanup.

I don't think you want to move 2 30" oaks with a pickup truck... it's gonna be a lot of heavy wood on the ground.

I hear those hacks at Pro Tree Care have a dump truck.

that was rude as hell.
Your on my list Mr.

Hey Kage, How about a 40 yard roll off ,dropped off so you dont have to deal with hauling?

hollenreich, don't bother posting in my thread if you have nothing useful and/or intelligent to say.. i suppose you woke up one morning and knew the exact worth of every job you were ever to do. however some of us are not that blessed. and while i may not be in the "arboricultural" field, i do, on a daily basis fell and remove hazard trees. it's part of my job and i make salary, therefore i am not in the habit of knowing how much to quote someone for a job like this.
we are in a rural area (clyde, nc) and neighbors generally try to help each other out before going to "big businesses"
neighbor "a" has 2 trees that need to be removed, neighbor "b" needs wood for wood stove.. you make the connection.

to all the helpful people in this thread, thank you.
we definitely took into consideration the drop zone i.e. not on top of the system. and as far as a big truck we do not have one, but it is a very short commute and we have two pick ups and do not mind the hard work of loading/unloading.

i think the number we are at right now is about $500 per...

hey jesse!

two of em'....plus a mini loader. Loading 30" chunks sounds like a back injury waiting to happen. Better get a splitter and some mignons and some beer to sedate them with

Consider renting/ borrowing a trailer for the day, have some ramps and some heavy duty hand trucks. Roll all the rounds onto the trailer, no lifting.

I definetly agree with blinky here. Get a couple bids on a clean up crew coming in after you. You could fell them, bid a little for yourself to clean up what you can, then have the machinery do the rest for you. If you get a decent enough bid from a clean up crew you could even tack on a little more for yourself...Other option Ive thought about is telling the homeowner that if they want it done cheaper, youll buck it into firewood length, they can post an add for free firewood on craigslist and with in a week I guarantee people will eat that oak up. One more thought- Oak=$$$ if there is a local saw mill you could sell it to in you area. You may even be able to have them come get it for you and still give you money for the logs.

if you can get $500 a tree for just felling a couple Oaks, I need to move.

[/ QUOTE ]

maybe try some reading comprehension during that move.....

Hi kage, how are ya?

As others have said, debris cleanup is a lot of work.

$500 seems low per tree if you have to haul the brush, and aren't getting paid to deliver the wood.

southsound great idea with the hand trucks and ramps! we do have a trailer.
as far as the clean up crew though, i'm not sure i have made myself totally clear, the wood that we buck up we actually will be keeping for the woodstove this winter. but i guess when we have more than enough we could post a craigslist ad...

hey rog, great new photos, i have been slacking a bit. what happened to that tree? lightning?

My bad, sorry to have missunderstood the job question.
Well if it is a bartter system you are working out then neighbor b is getting over, he'll be heating his house all winter for free and getting money off neighbor a. Don't seem fair, maybe neighbor a does a type of work neighbor b needs done so that you could trade work and get the wood for free.
