Homemade chest harness

I first started single rope work positioning several years ago when I bought one of original rope wrenches, and ever since then I have been striving to find an effective way to advance my climbing system during ascent. I have tried all sorts of different methods but finally last year I spliced a chest harness that I was somewhat satisfied with. I climbed with it for most of a season but was never fully satisfied with it so, with some help from yoyoman and my friend Andrew I have finally constructed a chest harness that I am really happy with. I have attached a picture of my original prototype and a couple pictures of my newest creation.IMG_20150613_135841620.webp IMG_20150613_151742310.webp IMG_20150613_150729728.webp

Also, I'd like to see the connection in the back if you've got the notion. I've been thinking about either a) sewing a loop of nylon inside that ring and attaching to the loop with a square quick link, or b) making the back connect to the ring directly with a system of triglides.

Been revising my own recently and the attachments is the part that's still not *quite* where I want it.

Ok, livefreeordie, what you've shown here is such a high quality looking piece of gear, that I get the feeling you might have a tough time keeping up with the demand, should you choose to try to produce them for sale to others.

Then you'll need to raise the price until the demand drops to the point you can keep up with it. A steady sideline income, is what I see.

Best of luck with your new business, if you choose to go down this road.

Yeah Buddy!
I definitely like what you got going on. Put me on the list if you're gonna make some. If not please take some time and do a instructional vid or some step by step pics and part sources

Thanks everyone that has responded, I really appreciate all the positive support and interest. I would love to be able to market my design and sell it on some sort of small scale, however sourcing the tree motion dee rings would prove to be an issue. I was able to make two prototypes because my friend Andrew (libertyuprising) had an old tree motion which he retired and was willing to sacrifice. I am going to be looking into possibly alternative hardware options that can be readily sourced.
The other issue I would likely have would be the tree motion buckles which I used to attach to the harness. Although I was able to find these buckles and purchase them, they are pricey and would drive up the price of the harness.
I am going to continue to try and come up with an economical alternative to both the dee rings and the tree motion buckles and will keep everyone posted. As far as pictures of my connections to the harness,I will have to wait till Monday for those as my harness is still at work. Right now I lack the ability to do video so I will do my best to take good pictures and give good directions as to what I did. Once again thanks for the support.

So today I got some better pictures of my connection points on the harness. Right now i have the female buckles mounted so they are removable and easily adjusted, however on previous versions I had riveted loops attached to the harness and this is probably the way I will go again. On the back I have a small snap that I found that attaches directly to the loop on the back of the tree motion. I will most likely be switching this snap out for a dmm xsre biner in the near future.

Hopefully Teufelberger is lurking and will take note, thier current offering is insulting to put on such a nice saddle...
