Hilarious elderly neighbor

I fell a small tree on our property line yesterday. Also did a ton of cleaning up along the road. I bucked and hauled a fallen branch in my 87 year old neighbor's yard while I was there.

She's a retired cardiac nurse. She knew I just got over Covid. It was extremely hot and humid, and she kept telling me I'd done enough and to get inside and cool off.

Finally she came over and said if I didn't call it a day, she was going to call the police. She was going to call 911 and tell them she hired a "tree guy" but had to fire him, "And now he's gone over and started cutting down all my neighbor's trees, and they are out of town!"

She's hilarious. Of course she had a huge grin on her face as she was threatening me. :-)

Around here, you can get arrested for watering your neighbor's roses. They might shoot you for cutting down trees.
People are so stupid. All he had to do was tell the officers, “I live right over there. If you want to come with me I’ll have my wife grab my ID and we can clear this misunderstanding right up.”

Instead he gets mouthy and is totally disrespectful to the officers who are simply trying to do their job and understand why he is on this property. Ridiculous…

What about the dingus who called the cops? This is a great case of bringing police into a situation that never needed it.

Person who called 911 could have instead asked the pastor ‘Hey what are you doing over there?’ And learned that there wasn’t a situation at all…

Or minded their own business…

Or better yet, started a conversation with the pastor about roses. Hello new friend. Hello community building.

Nice to have her care about you

Did you stop working before she called 911?

I put in another hour or so. She let me slide. :)

Another Mary Catherine story:

We had some new neighbors move into the hood last year. To put it gently, we are on opposite poles regarding local politics, and pretty much everything else. They invited Mary Catherine and us (basically everyone nearby) to a new year's day drop in. Yes, the day after new year's eve. :-) The drop in spanned a 6 hour period. We like to be good neighbors and of course were going to go, but we really didn't want to go. They can't seem to stay away from talking about controversial subjects; never learned that you stay away from sex, politics, and religion at a party. They just won't let it go. You know the type.

Early morning on new years eve Mary Catherine called my wife and told her that our new neighbors needed help setting up for the party, cleaning the house, and with serving the next day. She told my wife she agreed that both of them would "help her get ready tonight and work the party tomorrow". She did this on our voicemail! She would not answer her phone when my wife called to ask when she had lost her mind. Finally my wife walked over and knocked on her door. She said Mary Catherine answered the door laughing so hard she could barely stand. She of course made the whole thing up. Bad good neighbor! :) We love her.

It’s crazy and why I’ll rarely go outside of a contract for PHC work as a favor. I have an IPM program for a clients roses where a competitor sprays for boxwood blight as well. Competitor had some fungi left over and thought he was doing them a favor by spraying the roses as well. Little did he know the rosarian I work with is extremely particular and only wants the program I’ve been providing. I tried explaining he actually did us a favor and allowed us to make an application we don’t normally make since we go heavy on the foliar applications but he couldn’t be reasoned with. He was ping pinging between blowing up at the competitor and me trying to do damage control.
