hard hats for groundies

We outfitted all our groundies last season with the Rockman hard hats from treestuff and nearly all of them are falling part. The suspension adjustment knobs, come apart, skip and no longer adjust. Would like something that will hold up but is also affordable. We have 25 hard hats to purchase. Therefore $100 petzl's aren't within budget. Pictured is the Rockman that simply don't hold up

I agree with Tom. Couple of guys I know have the Stihl combos and they hold up well to abuse. Making the crew wear them with the face guards might be a challenge. But the hard hat , hearing protection combo can't be beat. I'm not sure how easily the face guards are removed for I've never owned one. My one buddy has one with the guard he uses for stump work. He does little to care for his stuff and his is a few years old now, and holding up well.

when i get on the ground i throw on a $9 homedepot lid.
works great.
why would you need a chin strap on the ground?
Personally, I have a very tiny, poor quality brain, that I need to protect it !
I want the very best protection that I can afford (head, eyes, ears, ...).
Therefore, Pfanner, saftey glasses w/ side shields, plus face shield, ear plugs, plus muffs, and chin strap.

I've been hit from climbers not calling, or paying attention, several times. Including at ITCC, state TCC's, etc.
Or even hangers while working underneath.

My ground guys have been running the rockmans for a few years now without problems. I've been happy with their performance for the price.

Rockman did not hold up for us. I have been trying out a few different options lately but not in love with anything yet

We need something with chin straps that will take a beating. We use to provide the groundies with cheap construction type hard hats and have seen one too many fall off during critical times it should stay secured. Therefore, we since developed our safety policy that all hardhats must also be secured with chin straps. It seems like the only option is the Rockmans or spending $100+ on a premium climbing helmet.

Our current budget allows $50 max per helmet per man.
Saw a few off brands such as Forester, some Chinese brands on eBay, etc, but I dont think they are ANSI approved.
