After attending some great classes at TCIA sharing near misses with as many others as possible is top of my list, so here we go.
Recently one of our climbers had just completed a tree and was helping chip, he is an SRT climber and was still wearing his foot ascender. As he was chipping this ascender got tangled in the brush and proceeded to drag him into the chipper, all the way into the tray. Thankfully he was not alone and his partner managed to reverse the feed in time and save the day.
We have always made a point about not chipping with your saddle on, wearing wide gauntlet style gloves or any other items that may easily snag but this was a new one on us so felt like sharing. Thanks for reading and feel free to share.
