Technology has moved so fast I have had my company for about ten years and in that time alot of changes have happened from what we thought was amazing then till now.

In order to make one that would go in the back yard and place the pick in front yard at the chipper it would need to be big, much bigger and heavier. I think a truck mounted Kboom is best suited for what we do.

For a small operator like myself, that thing could be sweet. Our trees are small and we often work in poor access back yards. Of course, I'd rather have a truck mounted K-Boom. Anyone see what cost comparison is looking like on one of those?

Yeah, but in the right market, with the right company, that might be a really good addition to the crew. The catch is, you would have to use it all the time. Around here there is far too much open space for things to crash down to worry about buying a piece of equipment like that. But when I worked in Boston and Cambridge, MA , I can think of a few jobs that would of been GREAT to have.

I was disappointed when I saw the reach, but hey, it's a good start.

Unfortunately...... for stability for more reach, it is going to have to be 40,000 lbs to have a good reach, say 85 ft vertical. 70 foot horizontal.

well....... if the belly could lay down low when setting up. maybe get away with 32,000 lbs and far reaching stabilizers.

Then, so not to tear up the yard, it could have REALLY wide tracks, say 24" wide and smooth, no tread at all.

that could maybe work.

You just need a tractor to haul it.

Instead of a trailer, it could have hydraulic mounted wheels that would come down and lift it up, for road hauling.

note to future builder...... send me a couple hundred thousand for the ideas when successful.

Our idea was named....hover crane. No more ground protection required... that new hover bored may be on the right track as soon as they figure out the way to get away from the copper floor.

I know these aren't the Kboom spider knuckles but the Orange one is pretty heavy duty for a spider crane! We used the small one as one of the cranes for our 0-8 ton license training, we did use a broderson also. The booms 78' on the Orange one and decent chart but are expensive !
