Hey Buzzers,
Mark Przekurat and I are organizing a Fids and Fibers splicing workshop on the weekend of 26-27 August 2017 in Corvallis, Oregon. If you are located on the west coast and have ever wanted to learn how to splice arborist’s ropes, this will be a golden opportunity to learn from the master. Mark travels the world teaching people how to splice ropes, slings, friction cords, and haul lines, and I am really excited to have him do a workshop here in Oregon.
The workshop will be held in my shop/garage in Corvallis. We are hoping to attract up to 20 participants. There is a minimum of 12 students required in order for Mark to break even on his travel expenses. Topics covered will be double-braid splices, 16-strand splices, hollow-braid splices, Brummel splices, and much more. Cost for attending the workshop will be $350.00 plus $75.00 for a splicing kit that includes tools needed to do the splices. Each student will be provided with all the materials needed to take home a variety of spliced goods. Mark says that students will go home with tools and spliced materials worth more than the price of admission.
My house is in the foothills about 5 miles west of downtown Corvallis. You can find lodging in any number of hotels in Corvallis, or if you want you can bring your tent, tree boat, or hammock, and camp in my yard or in the trees around my house. I will be cooking a breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and eggs on Sunday morning.
So, if you want to have a fun weekend hanging out with other climbers while learning valuable splicing skills, give me a call or text at 541-760-6339.
