Tom,

Way back before seatbelt laws, Mario Andretti did a PSA radio spot that aired during the 500 back in 1969 or 70, advocating seatbelt use, how he would never consider not using one.

I've been buckling up ever since.

Cars like your Dad's make one wish they'd grown up in the era of girl's in poodle skirts and tight sweaters, rum and cherry coke, and the drive-in theatre.

Thanks for sharing,

Darn I grew up in the spandex , Boy George , Thriller, etc. time . My parents always made sure my hyper rear was buckled down. I do miss listening to the parents and grandparents talk about those times and the crazy lives they led. Now all grown up with teens I make sure they strapped in(sometimes wish for hug me suits). It all sunk in really well for my oldest when we witnessed a bad accident, pulled over and all people where ok some how but all where wearing the seat belts.

excellent ad. I wear mine and never let anyone in my vehicle without wearing one.

I feel vulnerable without one. Great ad.

I noticed that when my kids were/are toddlers, I'd get used to the idea that they were well trained to click their seat belts (without looking to see if they really did). There were/are times when they don't.

As parents, we need to double check if they are clicked in more than once.

And we need to do the same for our employees/fellow workers...

I still remember when I was a kid my Dad installed seat belts in the 1966 Austin-Healey Sprite he bought back in about 1971.

I'm glad he instilled that value in me early.

I live in the "Live Free Or Die" state of NH and we still do not have a seatbelt law or helmet law. When I was growing up, we never dreamed of wearing our seatbelts.

Thankfully I never got in a car accident and wisened up and wear a seatbelt now.
