Edit: Buffs are actually ok masks

:endesacuerdo:
Bacon masks are not considered safe to wear due to inconclusive evidence in testing.
They never made it through phase one of testing.
Reason: Bacon masks are like Tootsie Pops.
No one knows how many licks it takes to get to through the center of one.
You are incorrect. It's 3, the owl told us on TV that it takes 3 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

If cancer spread like covid I would use one all the time to keep the people I care about safe and other people safe from catching it and spreading it to others like the people I care about.
For the sake of argument and to give my comparison a more realistic basis for comparison, in this regard let's imagine a plague of deadly and invisible acid raid causing death to everyone upon contact, except 99.6%. Should everyone then be required or mandated to always use umbrellas indoors too, even on clear sunny days?

There you go, good job adding more thought to it, totally waaaaay more realistic. (y)
You completely changed my point of view.
:wtf:

Aside from the disrespect and snarky reply, you utterly fail to acknowledge the hypocrisy of the many highly politicized, non science based, mask mandates. Have a nice day!

This is coming from the guy who is advocating placing a n95 in the fold of a buff?
Show me your science stating that masks are useless.

My buff filter tip is consistent with my feelings on the matter and my subsequent original umbrella comment was to lightheartedly illustrate the hypocrisy of the relatively low risk factor, based on the high survival rate of those tested who've been infected.

I don't oppose wearing a mask and I wear one when circumstances are warranted. I consider that my patriotic duty. It's the idea of having to forfeit our choice in the matter while forced to do so under the threat of prosecution. Unjustified mandates, some of which require masks, even when able to safely social distance outdoors, or in your own home, or in other circumstances that are unwarranted and over-reaching or unscientifically justified. I'm the first to admit, mask safety is better than no mask safety, even if most masks only filter a fraction of the particulates needed to avoid infection and it circumvents our ability to more quickly achieve heard immunity, which we've probably already reached in most places.

The covid survival rate is 99.6% and the death toll is far less than anticipated, more so if you exclude what could have been preventable nursing-home covid fatalities. Yet, despite mainstream media pumping out continuous fear based stories, in order to push their false narrative and biased agendas, the high % of covid survivals and low death tolls, aside from those with other severe underlying conditions are far below expectations. Clearly this is a sign that mask mandates and shutdowns are not enough to matter, but are simply used as political tools for unrelated issues, including mail-in ballots. As we continue to forfeit one right after another, without adequate push-back, eventually we will forfeit all our rights and at that point, it's too late.

How on God's green earth can you call mask mandates "non science based"? The amount of time you spend exposed to an infected person in close proximity as well as the viral load of that infected person are directly correlated to your likelihood of becoming infected. You can breathe in a certain amount of Covid particles and not become infected. Masks are ABSOLUTELY science-based prevention. Also, I didn't realize that you have the ability to determine a person's underlying conditions simply by looking at them. You can't tell a severe asthmatic from a normal person just by looking. Neither can you tell a person with diabetes, or even lung disease many times. You wear the mask for other people's protection just as much as your own. Period. The idea of a low death toll is only in the context of an extremely high rate of transmission and infection. Last I checked most folks would consider nearly 200,000 dead Americans over the course of 6 months pretty significant. Also, this is not a country of absolute freedom and never has been. You don't have the right to do things that potentially harm public health, nor can you do whatever you want just because you think it's ok. My guess is you're also a white male, which means you have more rights than anyone else in this country and you're still complaining about a mask mandate?? I have to wear a mask for 12 hours a day at work and while I hate it, I don't just take it off because I think I'll be fine.

For fuck sakes, this isn’t about your spoiled ass. Yes, the death rate of the virus is fairly low but the shit really fucks up about 20% of those infected. Wearing a damn mask helps.. it helps you a bit, but it does much more if all parties are wearing them. It prevents you from picking your nose, but it doesn’t help when you sit down on your finger afterwards anyone in their right mind washes their hands.
The only freakin reason there are government mandates on this very simple MITIGATION effort is because folks weren’t doing it. Now the only reason these folks are doing it, is because they have to actually protect others from their own stupidity.
I know you will likely be voting by mail, so why judge others who don’t have that option. For myself I avoid going to the grocery store when it’s super busy. If the line at the cafe is too long I turnaround and leave. All the while wearing a damn mask.
Some shit head exposed me to the virus outdoors, I checked all the boxes to warrant a test. All said and done with that cost me over 3k, test bills, lost work, and paying half wages to the crew. All because this dumb ass didn’t want to wear a mask. Luckily my test was negative, but if it wasn’t I could have passed it to my wife with Lyme. Her body is all jacked up, I could have brought it home...

I did have a nice day so I thank you for that.

Just so you understand why I responded that way...
I strongly felt that your post did not deserve any respect you thought it should.
Your "more realistic basis for comparison" false equivalency argument drifted off to some where in between science fiction and and pure lunacy. :loco:
It came off sounding disrespectful to those of us who get it and take the wearing of masks seriously.

And there's no hypocrisy, it's just not the alternate reality bubble you choose to subscribe to.
Try spending a couple of days back in the real world again where the majority of us live and where shit is real.
We really miss you here. :D

Seriously, don't you get tired of all the daily fake drama, fake anger, fake fear, fake assult on you freedoms, and the constant ridiculous "Deep State," "Main Stream Media" conspiracy theories ?
The term "Main Stream" is used by your world to refer to the majority of "the others" who do not subscribe to the "alternative reality" point of view.
The main stream includes the majority of the media and the majority of the people where consequently the majority of the college educated people are. :estudioso:
You know, the people who have bigger brains that actually use them.
If you are going to make a post on this subject then try using yours first or don't post if you're going to get upset at the responses.

BTW, seriously, I hope you had a nice day too.

Do they teach you in college that college professors and college students have bigger brains? And those who don't go to college don't use their brains? I couldn't afford to go. Nor did I want to. I guess that's why I'm so dumb.

I have no idea who this statement is directed to, but it’s very telling on how fragile you appear to be. Got my GED under my scrawny assed belt so feel free to go toe to toe. Or there is the alternative of a open mind, and compassion?

I’m all in for science based reality and education... but this statement is fairly classist and I don’t think it’s a productive thing to bring to the conversation. Insulting the intelligence of people who disagree with you is a way to avoid trying to understand their perspective. Lots of folks can’t afford college or just don’t test well. And this kind of retort is a reason someone who leans right would demonize the left for being elitist.

Not to mention, there is no scientific reality to differences in brain size among Homo sapiens. Lots of pseudoscience in the age of the Enlightenment used skulls to draw conclusions as to the comparative brain size among races and gender. This was a justification for inequality and the building block of racism generally, misogyny and chattel slavery. So please, leave that out of this conversation.
