donations?

Earlier this week I got an e-mail from one of the local schools asking if I'd be willing to donate an item or service for their annual auction to benefit the school.

I told them I'd be willing to donate one of the following:
1. Up to 25" of stump grinding, as long as there is good access and I don't have to clean up.
2. A basic consultation visit
3. $100 - $250 of free tree work, they opted to go with this... so I put in a gift certificate of $200. I said it could be used for pruning, phc work, or stump grinding... basically something I could do on a whim alone.

I was speaking with a friend today, and she is in charge of procurement? for a high end charity auction later in the season. She said that tickets to get in are $700. I offered to donate a service or item, but I'm not sure what would be a good donation for this type of affair. Any input would be appreciated.

a Complete evaluation of there woody plants on their property. Be sure to state a value of the service!

Like a home inspection you could provide them with a written report.

A cord of firewood, delivered and stacked.....
Deep-Root Fertilization for all foundation plantings and young trees in the yard........
2 appropriate-sized trees, installed on their property......

HLTree: That's nice of you to do those donations for the silent auctions. The second auction you mentioned ($700 tix) sounds like a Hi-end fundraiser. I would agree w/ Noel, thinking that your auction item should be product or services exceeding $700 in value. That's a hell of a donation if you ask me....even if it is 100% tax deductible.
