Different Lanyard Knot?

Started off with a gibbs for 2 years, now using a vt. Love the responsivness of a gibbs, pull it an inch an inch of slack goes away, the vt i use i try to come as close as possible to that so i use a super short one problem is that it binds up any ideas for a responsive but smooth knot? Thanks for any ideas

For a lanyard, I prefer the distel. You can tie it short for short action. It advances and releases very easily. The vt works best tied with a little length for the lower wraps to act as a spring

Nick....could you take a good pic of the Michocan, s'il vous plait? I've seen it, but can't remember where, and a search proved fruitloopless.....

I use a Vt, tended with a biner only...It's OK, but had used a knut till I forgot how to tie it...I was just gifted a grizzlied Beeline for supplying a GRCS for the dummy raise at the PNW TC event last weekend, which no one used. it's too easy to yard the dummy back up with a couple strong smellers.....

Anyhow, I tied all the other different knots last nite, off Ken's website--with da Bee-line...attached to a rope anchored (lodged in) to the partially opened window frame behind my computer monitors(plural, what a geek, eh?!!)Still like the Normal VT best, methinx....but will see, for the lanyard adjuster, sans pulley....

I don't much like that too soft and flat Beeline--- I went back to my PSRopes simple dubble braid after trying it for a while...and the HRC cord.....Kathy showed my her Icetail...and was impressed with how it looked after a year's use.....I think that's for me! nearly no wear....and it felt like just the texture I'd like....if it isn't a tad stiff....

Ahh, I see it's spelled michoacan...got some search results on that, but no pics....

I'd have to go search in my disheveled messy house for the mag with Mahk's artickle-me-elmo.....what issue was it....hopefully not one with a really runny discharge....

sorry, my mood is a tad odd tonite, no?

I recently switched to a Michoacan and have had GREAT luck with it. It's just a blakes tied with an eye-eye sling.

Close. You only bring the other leg through ONE wrap of the coils, not two as in a traditional blakes hitch.

The more I see and read about friction hitches, and after using so many of them, the more I have come to believe just putting enough wraps on a line and securing both ends will suffice as a hitch. No matter how the wraps are made.

I like a knut or a TK. They'll both self tend, but work better with a micro pulley. I'm definitely a Tenex fan. Its certainly my favorite hitch cord for the money. We bought a 100' spool for about $40.

Isn't that the truth.

I'm still successfully using a v.t. for a lanyard hitch. I find if the hitch binds, the length of the cord needs to be adjusted. If you aren't already doing so, try attaching the cord directly to your d-ring.

I have been using the VT as a lanyard adjustment knot for years and I've never had any of the problems that are spoken of here. I just tie the standard 4 wrap 3 braid. I use the spliced bee line from sherrill on a safety blue high vee rope. If the knot is dressed right it should go weeks with little or no problems in my experience.

I started out using the knut with tenex. It flowed ok and can be tended one handed without a micro pulley. I'll attach a pic I now use a cross of the VT with the knut. It's basically a vt with a half hitch at the end of the twists. I changed the rope to 5/16 tech cord. I'm still experimenting with the wraps and the twist.

i use a 3-1 vt on my steelcore lanyard, about as short as you can get....it doesnt bind on the steel core bout probably would on rope. still dont think you can beat the positioner on a lanyard.

not icetail, bailout. icetail is green single braid, super soft and flexible. bailout is a double braid, super stiff. icetail is easy to splice, bailout is not.
